Up, down, all around
Once euphoria takes you
Your feet will leave the ground
Up, down, all around
Come along with me
Ride the emotional merry go round
You've only seen my high
There's more than just my smile
Lighting up my face
Scattering brightness all over the place
You don't think I can ever frown
It's impossible for me to be down
Tears are only comical in my eyes
Everybody laughs as I cry
Up, down, all around
Come along with me
Ride the emotional merry go round
Up, down, all around
Trapped in this hall of mirrors
We will never get out
Author's Note:
I wrote this poem for an assignment in my creative writing class in my sophomore year of college. This was about a year before I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I would say this poem might be one of the better examples I have that show what it's like to live with the disorder.
