The four students glanced at each other, the impending sirens growing louder with each passing moment. "Please," Midoriya said softly. "Don't tell the police."
Glances were shared between the university kids. "They killed Kyouka. Iida. But, they're not bad people. I wish I could have asked their ideals so I could understand why. He saved us. God, I'm so confused."
"If it weren't for him, we wouldn't even be in danger," Sero retorted. "But he seemed so sincere."
"He was. He has plans for the organization going forward. Shouto told me that nothing like what Shigaraki did would ever happen again. I know they are our natural enemies, but please, they don't deserve death row."
The four looked at each other. The flashing red of the police cars washed against their skin as the hum of the engines echoed through the alley and the sirens came to a halt. Midoriya looked at his friends, begging them to stay silent. The police ran down the alley to meet the students.
"Did any of you make the call about the Birds of Prey?" the officer asked. Kaminari nodded his head. "Where are they? Is there anyone hurt?"
Kaminari bit his lip, a back and forth battle running through his mind. After what seemed like a million years, he sighed. "I'm sorry officer," he said softly. "It was a false alarm."
The officer examined his facial expression. He pulled Kaminari aside as the three watched him. He explained to the police and the officer nodded. He began scolding Kaminari as he put his gun back in its holster. "Code four, wrap it up," he said into his radio.
They all watched as the cars pulled away from the alley. The rumble of the engines grew softer as they rolled away in the distance. The students stood stationary, nobody was sure what to do.
"We should get back to the school," Midoriya muttered.
"I can't just live with this. It's not right. We need to tell someone," Sero muttered. Midoriya bit his lip. Ashido's head stayed low to the ground.
"No...we have to keep it a secret," Midoriya encouraged desperately.
"Midoriya," Kaminari said softly. "I know you love him. But they're still criminals. We can't let them walk free. Not as UA students, not as citizens."
Midoriya took in a deep breath. The thought of the rope hanging around Todoroki's neck weighed on his conscience. The horrifying sound of the snapping of his neck echoed through his mind before it was even created. The three weeks without Todoroki in his life were complete hell. To imagine the rest of his life without him...
"Midoriya," Ashido said, patting Midoriya on the shoulder. "Did you hear me? Do you understand? We don't have a choice."
Midoriya paused. He didn't need to hear her in order to know what she said. He nodded his head. "I understand," he said softly. "Can we tell them tomorrow morning? I don't want to deal with this tonight."
"That sounds like a good idea to me," Kaminari muttered. "I think we all need to clear our heads a bit before we face this."
The rest of the walk to the dorms was flooded with silence. Nobody dared to say a word. Midoriya's mind ran a million miles per hour. He tried coming up with a solution, any solution that could favor all parties. His mind every time only ran back to one.
Maybe it's selfish, but there's no way he could live without him. Especially with all that he knows about the FBI and society now.
As the four of them got in the elevator up to their respective floors, glances were shared as Midoriya's decision became more and more finalized in his head. He began to tear up a little as the elevator door opened to the second floor. He wrapped his arms around Sero, then Kaminari, then Ashido.
