Bakugou was surprised that Kirishima wasn't waking up to the obnoxious dinging of his phone that had been going off for the last seven minutes. Laying in the hotel room bed, he gingerly cradled the sleeping faux redhead in his arms, wondering when his phone was going to shut up.
Not that he had the balls to turn it off himself, he was too scared of waking his sleeping beauty. He sighed, burying his head in Kirishima's hair.
The phone, however, had other plans. Kirishima's ringtone began yelling, being the final needed noise to wake him up. Kirishima slowly opened his eyes, stretching out like a cat. He embraced his boyfriend in return, pulling him down for a kiss. Bakugou happily obliged as he rested his lips on Kirishima's.
The phone stopped ringing. And with the silence, Kirishima realized what had woken him up. The phone began ringing once more.
"Your phone has been going batshit for the past ten minutes," Bakugou muttered. "I think someone is trying to get ahold of you."
Kirishima chuckled. "Maybe I forgot something," he sighed sitting up. Ashido's name presented itself on the top of the screen. Bakugou sat up along with him, watching him accept the call and put the phone to his ear. He gave his signature toothy smile as if he expected her to be able to see it ."Hey Meens, what's up?"
Bakugou looked in worry as he saw Kirishima's smile fade into concern and confusion. "Woah woah, it's okay Mina. Take a deep breath," Kirishima said softly. As Kirishima's look of worry carried on, Bakugou glanced at his phone to see a couple of notifications. One in particular from Todoroki that caught his attention.
Todoroki: Was a success, but everything went to shit. You should come back sooner than later. A lot to go over. Also, you should tell Kirishima before someone else does.
Bakugou got more anxious by the second. He looked back at Kirishima, fearing that Ashido on the other line was already doing the favor of spilling his secret. Kirishima took in a soft breath, glancing at Bakugou with concern.
"Alright, good, yeah, deep breaths," he said to the phone. "What's wrong Mina?"
Bakugou bit his lip, watching every expression across that flicked across Kirishima's face. Kirishima listened intensively as his look of decipherment warped to shock. Wide-eyed, his mouth was left slightly agape.
"I..." he said softly. "I think I misheard you. What?"
Fear, horror, pain. All the disgusting emotions people wish to avoid viciously clawed their way up Kirishima's face. "We'll be back soon."
With that, he ended the call and stared straight ahead. Bakugou's heart pounded in his chest, trying to figure out what to do or what to say. Bakugou cautiously reached out his hand, grabbing Kirishima's. He didn't reciprocate, but he didn't pull away. He just stared at the wall. It was as if everything from his peripheral vision and beyond didn't exist.
After a couple of minutes of dead silence, Bakugou's thumb gently caressing Kirishima's hand, Kirishima took in a shaky breath.
"Midoriya," he said softly. Bakugou tilted his head, not expecting him to be the center of Kirishima's pain. "He..."
Kirishima choked on the next word he attempted to say. Through the shock and horror displayed across his face, a single tear managed to force itself out. He turned to Bakugou.
"He killed himself."
Bakugou felt his stomach drop. A million questions ran through his head, not a single one coherent. The one thing that screamed at him was Todoroki's nonchalant message. Did he not know? He stared at Kirishima, not knowing what to do, where to go, what to say.
