Robert's POV
I left Andy sitting on the couch and went into my office at the house. I sat against the door and cried. I felt like I sat there for hours before I made my way to my desk. I did some work to keep my mind off Andy and the baby.
Andy's POV
I threw on one of his shirts and made my way into the kitchen. It was around lunch and I still needed to eat for this baby. I want a smoothie and specifically one of Robert's smoothies. I just grabbed some fruit and sat outside on the porch and ate my snack. Robert came out of his office and grabbed a bottle of water.
Robert: I'm going on a run. I should be back in an hour.
He left the house through the front door and was gone from there. I texted Maya and asked if she could come over to talk with me. She agreed and was at the house within a few minutes.
Maya: Hey how are you guys doing?
Andy: I don't know.
Maya: Where is Chief Sullivan?
Andy: Robert left on a run about ten minutes ago.
Maya: What is wrong?
Andy: We disagreed on what to do about the baby.
Maya: Carina told about your guys options.
Andy: I think I should have the surgery and Robert wants us to wait until the baby is born.
Maya: So you guys ended up fighting and then he stormed off.
Andy: Yeah. I don't know what to do? I feel like if I do what my husband wants its not what is best for the baby, but if I do what is best for the baby than I could lose my husband. I feel like what ever I do is a lose, lose situation.
Maya: So you are afraid of both options and don't know what to do, but the longer you wait the more danger the baby is in.
Andy: Yeah, just tell me what to do.
Maya: I can't tell you what to do because you have to live with the consequences, but I can hold you until you find out what to do.
I put my head in her lap and fell asleep shortly after.
Maya's POV
Andy fell asleep about ten minutes ago when Chief Sullivan walked through the door.
Robert: Captain what are you doing here?
Maya: Andy asked me to come over after you left.
Robert: How is she?
Maya: Permission to speak freely sir?
Robert: Of course.
Maya: She is afraid that what ever she chooses she will lose you or the baby, or both. She needs you to rub her scalp and her back not me.
Robert: She just ignored my point of view on the subject. She has already made up her mind and she didn't need me.
Maya: If she didn't need you she would have already had the surgery, but she is laying here knowing that every second you guys wait could harm the baby.
Robert: She has to understand where I am coming from.
Maya: And you have to understand where she is coming from.
I moved Andy's head off my lap and grabbed my coat and left. I knew that they needed to figure this out for themselves and that is what I left them to do.
Robert's POV
I grabbed my blanket from our room and covered her up with it. I knew that it was secretly her favorite because it smelled like me, but she would never admit it. I went to take a shower and made a protein shake before she got up. I watched her walk into the kitchen in my favorite shirt. I knew why she had it on and I grabbed some fruit and started to make her a fruit smoothie. She walked out of the kitchen and went down the corridor disappearing from my eyesight. I finished making her smoothie and then cleaned it up before I walked down the corridor stopping at the door to the nursery.
Andy: It will be okay baby, we will figure it out. Your dad and I will figure it out before anything bad happens to you. You know your dad loves you very much, we are just having a hard time making the best decision. In the mean time if you could sit still so the bands do not get any tighter on you that would be great. I love you and your father so much that it hurts. I had to put his shirt on so that I could actually fall asleep. I was so use to his smell right next to me when I sleep that I couldn't without his smell.
I walked into the baby's room and gave her the smoothie and then left.
