Nishinoya sat on the roof of Shoyo's home, staring into the distance as the wind gently blew strands of hair in front of his face. His heart hurt, his soul felt like it was shattering. Shoyo has become more and more distant from him since that first phone call. Now, he has been out all day, not coming home until almost dark. Nishinoya felt as if the boy was ignoring him.

The angel hugged his knees closer to his chest and buried his face into them. Why has he been so distant? Is it because of me?

Nishinoya sighed softly before lifting his head and looked towards the clouds. There he is again, stalking my every move like a cat preying upon a mouse.

"You never seem to leave my mind, do you Shoyo?" The angel sighed softly. I shouldn't worry about it too much. Shoyo isn't the type of person to ignore someone for no reason. Why am I even worried in the first place? He is my best friend but, are friends even allowed to think of each other like this? Ugh! My head hurts just thinking about it!

Nishinoya had a sudden burst of energy, jumping to his feet. "You know what? I'll ask him tonight! We'll get ice cream like we always do and I'll tell him!"
The angel jumps down to the balcony and walks inside, waiting for Shoyo to get home.

Shoyo walks in the door, greeted by the raven winged angel sitting on the couch with the biggest smile on his face. Shoyo smiled back at Nishinoya as he walked in and set his coat and bag on the table.

"Welcome home, Shoyo!" Nishinoya greeted, "Can we get ice cream tonight? I wanna tell you something."

Shoyo just continued to smile at the angel, hesitant about his request before nodding.

"Sure!"

Nishinoya practically screamed in joy, jumping up to his feet. "Alright! Lets—"

"Noya-san, hold on a second." Shoyo finally said. "I.." He began, but he couldn't bring himself to say anymore. "Nevermind. Lets go."

Nishinoya nodded and the two of them walked out the door to the Sakanoshita store. The walk was quiet aside from the occasional humming coming from the angel, but it was comfortable.

After they arrived, Shoyo went in and bought them their guri guri kun pops and met up with Nishinoya at the swings by a small park.

The ginger handed Nishinoya his ice cream, who almost immediately gulped it down. Shoyo giggled softly at him, taking a bite of his own ice cream. The two sat together in a comfortable silence as they munched on their pops. Nishinoya took a deep breath and finally broke the silence, removing the popsicle stick from his mouth.

"I imagined a night like this before." The angel spoke abruptly, startling Shoyo slightly causing the boy to look at him.

"Imagined a night like this?" Shoyo asked quizzically.

Nishinoya hummed as he nodded, "Yeah. I imagined the night I would finally confess my love for a girl who shines brighter than the sun. Someone I have been close to for a while, someone whom I share my days laughing and singing with."

Shoyo looked back at the ground as Nishinoya looked at him and continued. "It's what I imagined, but this. This is so much better."

The ginger looked back at the angel, raising his eyebrow. Nishinoya got up from his swing and walked in front of Shoyo, placing a hand on the boy's cheek. "Because I'm confessing my love.. For you."

Shoyo's eyes widened. He wanted to speak but he couldn't find the words. The ginger's mind was running a million miles a second just trying to process what the angel just told him.

"Your love? F-For me?" Was all the boy could choked out causing Nishinoya's expression to soften.

He nodded, "Who else do I spend my days with laughing, and singing, and playing volleyball. Who else could possibly shine brighter than the sun? Not anyone I know. That's for sure." Nishinoya smiled, pulling Shoyo closer allowing their foreheads to touch. "You're my only sunshine."

Shoyo felt tears well up in his eyes as he stared at the forlorn love in the brunette's eyes, his face flushing pink.

"N-Noya-san.." Shoyo whispered, feeling helpless against those eyes.

Shoyo leaned into the angel's gentle touch, allowing the tears to slip down his cheeks. Nishinoya smiled more.

"Shoyo. I love you."

The angel lifted the boy's chin, his face leaning closer to his, closing his eyes.

Shoyo's eyes widened as Nishinoya's lips grew closer to his own. The moment felt so right, the love the two felt for each other only grew in that moment. I love you too, Noya-san. Shoyo closed his eyes, relaxing his body.

His mind let go for a brief moment before his eyes shot open, standing from the swing and pushing the angel backwards rather roughly. Nishinoya stumbled back slightly and looked at the boy with a confused, hurt, and slightly angry expression. Not anger towards Shoyo, but to himself.

"I'm sorry, Noya-san.." Shoyo apologized, regretting his harsh actions.

The two stood there, staring at each other in a tense silence, neither daring to speak. However after a while, Shoyo finally broke the silence.

"Noya-san.." He spoke gently, Nishinoya looking at him, hoping for the boy to have just been nervous and confess his love back.

Unfortunately, that's not how this cruel world works.

"I don't love you."
