Footsteps pound above me. I hear them coming closer. I sit, jammed into the tiny space below the floorboard,  holding it up with my back.

Someone steps on the tile, I hold my breath, my legs are going numb from being crammed, and my back is burning from the pressure.

"Search everything again!  She has to be in here!  Get in every corner, closet and cabinet. We don't leave until she is dead!". Every word is like an explosion. His voice is loud and demanding. I recognize it. He was the peacekeeper who had Gale whipped in the square last year.

He finally moves and I hear everyone move back down the hallway.

I wait for a long amount of time to pass before I convince myself that it is completely safe to come out.

I start to get up, slowly, because of the pain. I make it back to the room, still with mostly one leg, and sit.
We don't leave until she is deadI shiver. I know who " she" is.

"Peeta". A whisper behind me echoes. I look around. Katniss?

"Who is it?" I stand.

"Its me peeta. Katniss. I said I'd be back didn't I?". I turn and see her smile.

" K-Katniss. How did you get here?  The soldiers, they're searching for you. They were just here!  You could've been killed!" My words jumble together and I reach up and wrap her in my arms.

"Peeta. I'm OK. Listen.  Let me explain everything "

I do exactly what she says. I don't innterupt, despite the many, MANY, questions in my mind. When she's done I learn that everyone believes me to be dead. They only saw Katniss shoot, which is why they are after her. Everyone else in the room saw the gun on me and saw me drop to the ground.  They could only assume I was dead. She explains how this is an advantage to the rebellion. One giant surprise attack can be made, a final blow to the Capital. Katniss continues to tell me about Finnick and Annie's rescue, and the rebellion is stronger than ever and are itching to fight. They just need me to be ready.

I sigh and glance down at my leg.  Her eyes light up as if she forgot something.

"Don't worry. Finnick convinced a majority of the Capitals hospital staff to fix you up as soon as possible. Said he used his-". She used air quotes and rolls her eyes. " irresistible charm"

I cant help but give a small laugh, remembering Finnicks ability to persuade anyone with a few words, an adoring smile, and of course, a sugarcube.

"So what do I do?  Sneak halfway across the city with one leg at nightfall?". I stare hopelessly into her tired eyes.

"Yes, only it isn't halfway across the city. Its only about a mile south.  Do you think you can do it bread boy?". She smiles, them takes it back.  " Sorry. I don't know why I said that. I don't even know who I was talking about.  Or why-"

"Katniss. Its OK. You can call me that". I reassure her smile, and hold her tighter.  Placing a kiss on her forehead, I stand and say "I can do it"

Then we escape into the shadows, and I limp my way to the hospital.

We walk inside and are immediately greeted by Finnick, holding his trident.

"Peeta?  Katniss?". He raises an eyebrow at her.

"62271. Now let us in. We have to get this don't as soon as we can"   She pushes past him.

I wanted to know what those numbers meant. But before I could ask I was rushed into a small room.

"Let's start". Finnick commands two women who seemed to be secretly gossiping in the corner.  They quickly rush and lay me down on a table.

They study my leg under microscopes and other lenses that connect to computers.  Then I am approached with a pill, just a pain killer apparently. I glance at Finnick and Katniss. They nod. I take a deep breath before swallowing it and drifting into a deep, painless sleep.

I've been writing down some good ideas for the ending of this. It should be good(I hope). Keep sharing this book, and voting and commenting. I'll try to update soon!
