Chapter 2 - New Arrivals

Shoji's POV

I wake up to my phone ringing. I check who it is. It's Kuraim. Why is he calling me?

"Hey dude? Why are you calling me?" I question him as I pick up the call.

"Because it's five am and I knew you would oversleep so I'm waking you up in time for the flight." He says laughing. I chuckle at this.

"Ok dude. I'll see you there." I say ending the call. 

I quickly get up out of bed and put some comfy clothes on (for the long flight) and grab my case. I leave my room to find out that my parents are still asleep so I write them a note.

"Mom and Dad,

I've gone to the airport, I don't know how long I'll be gone but I'll keep in contact with you and will give you the information about what is going on. I will get him back. And can you please buy more board games while I'm gone. It's getting dull.

Anyway, I love you and call me if you need anything.

Mezo." 

I place the note on the table in front of the couches and leave the house. It's only a ten minute walk to the airport so I listen to my music.  

Time Skip.

I arrive at the airport and see Kuraim outside on his phone. He looks up and sees me.

"You were quick to get here." He says shocked.

"Yeah, what do you think I was going to do stay there until the very last second?" I chuckle.

"Yeah, that's actually what's I thought." He says smiling back.

"Come on, let's go get checked in." I say to him. Walking inside the massive airport.

An hour later

Do you know how god damn stressful check-in is! I got patted down twice! I hate that. 

Anyway, we have half an hour till the flight. They are starting to board the plane but Kuraim is fussing about which stuffed animal he wants. I mean I guess he didn't really have a childhood. But, he looks 16 so we are getting some really strange looks. I manage to drag him out. He picked the fox stuffed animal.

We board the plane and chill. 

"Oh and by the way, I've never been on a plane before and I'm terrified." Kuraim says as we sit down. So, he picks this time to tell me this!

"Just calm it'll be alright." I say to him. We start to take off and I see him start to shake. I have the fox plush in my bag that they let me put next to me. (because it's quite small and he over packed) so I take it out and give it to him. This calms him down for the rest of the flight and I'm allowed to listen to my music in peace. And slowly I drift off to sleep.

In his dream

"Fumi! Fumi! Where are you?! Kuraim! Guys!" I shout running down a long black corridor. I don't know why I'm calling for them but something tells me they are here. 

Then out of the darkness I see a door. I sprint towards it and open it. I see Fumi with the same knife in his back that was used to kill him. 

"F-Fumikage?" I question on the edge of tears. For a second I think he's dead but his head quickly turns towards me.

"Why didn't you save me Mezo? I thought you loved me. But, now I know that you just used me. I should have just stayed with my parents. Maybe then I wouldn't be DEAD! You never loved me. How can you call yourself a hero when you technically killed me!" He shouts. Tears cascade down my face. I put my face into my hands.

"F-Fumi I always loved you. And I will never stop. Please forgive me." I pull my hands away from my face to see that his body is gone. My Fumi is gone forever.

In real life

"ShojI! Wake up! We've landing. Hey? Why are you crying?" He questions.

"Nothing just a sad song I guess." I say wiping the tears from my eyes.

We leave the plane and grab I bags. Thankfully they are one of the first to be taken off the plane.

When we walk we see how different this new environment is.

There are colossal skyscrapers going to the edge of the sky. There windowed walls shining the blinding sun out from them. There's a constant noise of the horns of cars and shouting of people. The sky is clear blue and beautiful and the clouds and like cotton wool suspended by string. All I could think at this moment was.

"How can I call myself a hero?"

Oh BTW. I don't know anything about America (I'm from the U.K) so if I get anything wrong I'm sorry. Anyway, stay safe! -Teddy
