Carnival was ending and maybe I wouldn't feel so alone. And finally the course of my life this year was going to start. So far, nothing was new to my daily life. It will be from this chapter that everything begins to unfold.
I was, as most of the time, on the Internet. When I entered my Facebook I saw that I had a new event invitation. It was from Milla and it was actually an invitation. I was being invited to his birthday party in April that was going to happen at his house. How cool, she remembered me! On his commemorative date there was going to be a costume party. Also in the body of the invitation there was a numbering and below it explained that it was an individual code that at the end of the party she would surprise all the guests using the codes. That's the cool thing about Milla's family parties, there's always a surprise. Instead of her, the owner of the party to be presented, it was the guests who always left with something. His family was very creative and receptive. My code was 112. Was I the 112 person she remembered to invite?
1 - Johnatan; 2 - Yolanda; 3 - So-and-so; 4 - Everbody; 5 - Beltrano ...; 112 - Adam; 113 - .... Nobody, it's over.
But it doesn't matter, I was invited.
While browsing my social networks, with nothing else to do, my cell phone rang. I looked and on the display; the identification was marking UNKNOWN NUMBER. I hated that. Nowadays when I receive this type of call, or when I see a private number, I hardly answer it. But at that moment I answered it, because I wanted to hear someone, I needed someone to call me, no matter if it was the bank woman charging my credit card late.
"Hello!", I answered.
"Hi good afternoon!", spoke the interlocutor in a soft and challenging voice. I soon realized that it was the man who had interviewed me. "I'd like to speak to Adam."
"It's him."
"Hi Adam. It's Souza, from TV Mídia. All right?"
"Everything great, how about you?"
-"Fine thanks! So, I'm calling to say that we analyzed your portfolio material and you have the profile to fill the internship position here on TV. Are you still interested in the vacancy?"
I was speechless. If I was interested in the vacancy? Of course yes. Who wouldn't be interested.
"Ah ... Of course ... Of course, yes.", I stammered.
"Oh, that's good. But what about your job for the website you write about? Won't it get in the way?"
"No!", I spoke at the time, almost interrupting him. "He won't interrupt anything, I only write for the site in the morning."
In the interview he had told me that the internship time was from 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
"That's great," he said in an even more authoritative voice. It felt like I was testing myself all the time, I got this feeling all year. "And when can you start?"
When I had the idea to narrate here what happened to me was to see if, turning a book, it was possible for someone to believe. What do you mean when I want to start? He was the boss, he who would decide the day to start, hey. First, I postponed the day of the interview because I couldn't go on the scheduled day, then I approved for the job even with that and now I was asking when I wanted to start?
It was Monday and I was already excited about the call.
"Tomorrow!", he said without thinking. "I can start tomorrow if you want."
"Very good. So you can come here at 2 pm and look for me. You and other interns will start tomorrow."
I was wondering if the other interns had also received the same question as when they wanted to start and would have answered the next day.
- Okay, thank you very much, Souza. See you tomorrow then.
"And, another thing," he interrupted, "does the landline you put on your resume still exist?" I tried to call, but it just got busy.
"Ah yes yes! Exists! It's from my house. It's just that I'm using the cable for the Internet ... You know, right ... Dial-up Internet."
"OK! See you tomorrow and congratulations."
"OK!", and hung up.
Much joy. I ran to speak to my mother. I didn't believe I was going to work on one of the most important cable TV in the country. It was surreal at the time. I knew that I would learn a lot there and that it would be very good for me.
I called Dani to give him the good news. She had been responsible for everything. At the end of last year she had posted on Twitter that TV Mídia had opened vacancies for interns and that's when I got to know and sent my resume. When I was desperate because I didn't have a portfolio, she had helped me.
"Wow! Good, cat. When will it start?"
"Tomorrow. I'm very anxious."
