Chapter 4

I took a big drink of my ocean-berry smoothie, which was one of the best smoothies I've ever had! It's almost as good as when Remi makes it. We were looking around in the room, waiting for the announcements to come on.

"Lunar from Team Kemuri Vs. Harper from The Rolling Pigs! Come to the battlefield as soon as you're ready."

I wish that I could've kept drinking that smoothie forever, but I had to finish. So I quickly slurped it down. I'd probably be able to get another one later anyways. They were giving them away for free. I started heading toward the battlefield, hoping I actually had what it took to win. Though, I was pretty confident that I could beat the guy. "The Rolling Pigs" you have to admit, is a pretty stupid name. Who thought of that?
When I was almost out of the room, I heard Soren yell, "Goodluck!"
"Thanks, but I won't need luck!" I said, continuing walking without looking back. I threw the cup in the garbage. I walked through the next room and touched the cold door handle, getting ready to open it. The idiots that fell on top of us earlier jumped in front of me.
"Hey, ready to lose?" Oh, so he is the so-called Harper . . . I have to win now. I've gotta prove that we're not some little, nothing team. Don't get your head stuck in the clouds, Harper.
Ack, just open the door and try to ignore him. Which I found was much easier than yelling, like I usually do. He thinks starting fights seems to be better though. Probably just one of those all talk to action kind of people.
"Ohh, thinks she's too good for me, eh? Trying to act like a hotshot?" said Harper, trying to get on my nerves.
"If you're so good, prove it and stop stalling." I opened the door all the way. I'm almost blinded by the bright sun when I walk out. I give my eyes a minute to adjust. I looked around at the surroundings. White columns everywhere, and a large open dirt floor, most likely to fight on. That is the name.
We both go to our circular starting positions. I lean into my stance. He does too, but. . . I've never read about, or seen this stance he's doing. It could be a more advanced technique, or he just doesn't have a clue what he's doing. I'll ask Remi later after the fight.

"3. . . 2. . . 1. . . START!"

I jumped back a few feet to start charging my brass knuckles by rubbing them together to make "static" lightning. I watched him advance out of the corner of my eye. I saw a faint light, then summoned out of all things, a stick! How are you supposed to fight with a stick?! No one even makes a stick scabbard! That's so stupid.
I heard the faint sound of Ari yelling, "You've got this Lunar!" I smile, knowing I have someone on my side. I then focus back on him. I watched as he got closer and closer to me. He wasn't moving fast, but he pulled the stick back, ready to attack. He swung the stick at my head, making an airy whipping sound. This guy must be the most skilled guy to ever wield a stick. Well, that's because no one's stupid enough to take a stick over a sword or a knife. Even darts would be better! I ducked below the stick just barely, still charging up my brass knuckles, then I kicked his shoulder to push him back.
I just need to keep dodging him until the brass knuckles are done charging up. I then dodge another hit to the side, then start to run a little. I finally finished charging up my knuckles fully. I wait for him to charge at me again. "Oh, so you're running away from me? Am I too powerful for you?" Harper teased. I cringed at his comment.
I wait a moment, then he starts to charge at me, a little faster this time.
"No." I responded. He tries to hit my side again.
"Just waiting for the right moment to do this!" I jumped a step to the side, jumped over the swing he made, planted my feet back down, and punched him into the air.
"AAAHHH!" Harper yelped. I then kicked him into the air about 10 feet, I quickly grabbed his arm, and pounded him against the ground. I'm not sure if he's down or not so I kick his head a few times just to make sure. Now I was sure he was knocked out. He had a black eye, and blood was dripping from his mouth. I kinda laugh. I wonder what his expression will be after he wakes up.
I smiled up to my friends and said to the crowd. "I thought he would have been a little harder than that to beat!" He thought that we were amateurs. We still might be compared to the rest of the world, but at least I beat him.

"Lunar is the winner, her team will be advancing to the next round!"

The crowd is silent for a second, but then they burst into cheers. All for me. I've never gotten as much recognition as I had at that moment. I couldn't help but smile as I ran back to my friends. As I was running, a bunch of reporters ran up and cut me off, " How'd you do that?" and, "That was so cool, I bet you're gonna win the tournament!"
Then suddenly someone grabs my wrist! On instinct, I pull my arm back. I turn around and look at him. He's wearing a black shirt, black jeans with black shaggy hair that falls in his beautiful, silver eyes. Maybe he's magic too and needs a team to join.
"Dude, you just don't grab someone's wrist like it's free ice cream!" He gives me a weird look. "I'm lactose intolerant." I roll my eyes. "Then donuts if you are lactose intolerant! Oh wait- You know what, you get the idea!" My face gets hot. "What's your name anyways?" I asked. He looked me in the eyes then said, "My name's Luke nice to meet you Lunar. . ."
