IAN's POV
"You're inviting a GIRL OVER?" My mom turned to me and I almost thought she was going to drop the plates in her hands.
"Uh.. what's the right answer to that?"
"Oh Ian!! I'm so excited to meet her!" Mom set down the plates and took my hands in hers, squeezing them then holding them up to her cheeks to feel her smile.
"Oh, Ian, ever since your quest with Barley I've seen so much more of the real you. I'm really proud of you." I smiled back at her and brought her into a hug.
"Uh-oh, hug time without me?!!" Barley had appeared from his room and ran over, squeezing his arms around both of us.
"Yeesh, Barley go shower!" Mom wiggled her way out of his arm and laughed. "Ian's friend, (y/n) is coming over soon."
"I know! I was planning on it!" He crossed his arms and puffed his chest in defense. "I have to plan properly if we're playing Quests of Yore!" He looked at me and grinned. "Are you ready to face a challenge, Iandore Lightethfoot thy Mystic?"
I laughed and followed the act, miming a hold of my staff. "Only if you are, Barleth thy Incredible!"
We both started to mime our way through a wizard battle, me thrusting my imaginary staff towards Barley, clawing the air like a dragon. The doorbell rang, and mom rushed to answer it.
"That must be Corey! Time for a well-deserved chick flick!" Mom laughed and opened the door.
"Hi! I hope I'm not too early.."
Barley and I froze in our fake fighting positions, Barley's hands clamped over my face like a pair of jaws and my fake staff poking him in the gut. That voice was definitely NOT Corey.
"Oh, hey dear!" Mom smiled widely and stepped aside to let her in.
"Hi there! You must be Mrs. Lightfoot. I'm (y/n)."

YOUR POV
"Thanks mom! I'll see you in a few hours."
Mom pulled up to the Lightfoot's house and parked, but before letting me out she turned to me.
"Now be careful, (y/n), make sure their house is clean and doesn't smell like drugs, and if you feel uncomfortable remember our safe word.."
I nodded and giggled as we repeated our safe word simultaneously:
"Pizza bagel."
"Mom, I'll be fine. You knew the Lightfoots in college, right?" I smiled and squeezed her hand. "You've got nothing to worry about."
"I know, I know. You just know how I get." She looked at me and smiled. "I'm excited! You're finally hanging out with people more your speed. I'm happy seeing you happy." She kisses my hand then playfully punched my arm. "Now go! Have fun! Don't worry about me, your mommas having a wonderful date at home with my sexy book!" She said with a wink.
"Ah, gross mom!" I laughed before heading out of the car and walking the pathway towards the house.
Every step I take makes me a little more nervous. Suddenly though, I can hear in the house;
"Are you ready for a challenge, Iandore Lightethfoot thy Mystic?"
I giggled at the loving environment of the house and my fear immediately went away. I rang the doorbell.
When I entered I greeted and introduced myself to Ian's mom, and the wonderful woman let me in to see her sons... battling it out in the living room.
I let a smirk appear at my lips before taking a fighting stance.
"A new challenger approaches! Is it... it is!! Madame (n/n) (l/n) the (adjective that starts with the first letter of your name lol)! And she challenges ye to a duel!"
The man next to Ian, who I presumed to be his older brother, smiled evilly before turning back to back with his younger sibling. "Ah, but ye hath none match against the Lightenfoot clan!"
"Yeesh, you guys are nerds," I heard a powerful voice behind me, and I turned to see none other than-
"The Manticore?!" My jaw dropped open.
"Oh please honey, it's Corey." The beastly woman nudged Ian's mom and smiled. "You ready, Laurel?"
"Yep! Let's get our movie on!!" She punched the air and walked out with Corey.
I was still in shock. Then I turned to the brothers.
"Your family knows the Manticore??"
They nodded.
"Is she..." I pointed back to where their mom was. "Y'know??"*
"Oh n-no, just a family friend." Ian smiled and shrugged.
"Wow. What have I missed about you, Lightfoot?!" I smiled widely.
The older of the two laughed and ruffled his brothers fluffy hair. "Looks like you two have some stuff to catch up on. I'm gonna go take a shower, then I'll be back down for the ultimate quest!!"
The man trodded up the stairs and left me.
And Ian.
Alone.
This'll be fun.

Hey guys! I hope you're liking it!
Also I put the asterisk up there because I think Laurel and Corey should've dated at the end of the movie *ahem* but that's just my opinion 😌👉👈
Love you all!
