Hey guys!
I know I've posted a lot these past few days but my creative juices are bouncing off the walls lol. Thanks, quarantine.
Enjoy!

IAN'S POV
I woke up to the sound of Barley's baritone rocking out to rock ballads once again. It was still dark outside, and the time on my watch read:
1:35 AM
I went to stretch a little, but before my hands could reach above my head I noticed (y/n) asleep on my chest. I guess I was too tired to notice before.
She looked absolutely stunning, even when asleep. Her (h/l), (h/c) hair was pulled in stands across my chest, and her own chest rose up and down slowly in slumber. I smiled and pulled her hair from off her face, revealing her gorgeous sleeping eyes.
It was odd. We had only started talking recently, and we had already kissed twice.
Wait a minute. We had kissed twice.
My breath hitched as I realized the events of the previous night. I guess Barley had noticed my movement and looked in the rear-view mirror.
"Morning, bro!" He chuckled, putting his focus back on the road. "How's (y/n) doing?"
"She's out," I chuckled, looking back down at the girl cuddled up next to me. She groaned a little in her sleep and her fingers curled up on my shirt, taking a small fistful of it in her hand. I smiled at the gesture.
"What's going on with you two?" He asked, shifting in his seat. "I know you two kissed twice, has anything else happened?"
"Wait, you knew the first time?!"
"Yeah, dude! It was obvious!" He chuckled. "You two were so flustered when you came downstairs! Also I may have peeked in after my shower."
"Barley!"
"Hey, I had to make sure you weren't doin' it!" He bellowed a laugh. "Answer my question, man!"
"Well... I don't know..." I looked down once again to (y/n), and brushed my fingers through her hair. "We only just started talking. Everything's moving really fast."
"Well, I guess that's what happens when bottled up feelings come up after so long."
Barley flicked his turning signal on and veered down another road.
"Yeah... I guess.." I smiled at the thought.
"So? Is she any good?"
"Barley!"
"Okay, okay! I'll stop." He chuckled and kept on driving.
I sat there with (y/n) for another ten minutes before she rustled, and her (e/c) eyes blinked open. She looked up and smiled at me, positioning herself so she lay her chest on my stomach.
"I almost forgot I was on a quest," she laughed, her mouth curling into a gorgeous smile.
"Yeah, it took me a second to realize where I was, too." I smiled back. She lay the side of her head upon my chest and traced her finger in little circles on my stomach. The movement tickled a little, but in a good way. I felt safe.
The van came to a halt, and we both sat up, (y/n) stretching her arms over her head.
"Alright boys and girls," Barley turned to face us. "I'm going out to find wood for a campfire. Would you like to help?"
Before I could answer, (y/n) had grabbed my hand and nodded excitedly. "Let's go! I love campfires!" Seeing her so happy about the subject forced me to give in, but I wasn't upset about it.
We walked around the woods, phone flashlights streaming from every which way. Barley had picked up two armfuls of sticks and had headed back toward the van. (Y/n) and I were still looking for some.
Then I realized where we were.
"(Y/n)! Follow me!" I took her hand and she did as such, following until we broke from the forest. A small beach lay in front of us, as well as babbling purple waters and the snow-topped mountain upon our sight.
The site we had during the nature hike.
"Ian! Oh my gosh, look!" She pointed, and there was our rock, same place we had left it. (Y/n) bolted to the spot and picked it up, looking over at me and smiling. She slipped the rock into her backpack and took my hand once again.
"Alright, back on task!"
We collected some sticks and went back to camp, where Barley had already started a fire.
"Alright, guys. There's some things we need to go over." He pulled out his gameplay book and flipped a few pages before showing it off. "So I may have bent the truth a little earlier, because I didn't expect us to have been attacked by a she-demon princess with giant wings. Raven's Point isn't exactly the tallest place in our area. It actually happens to be further away, past the Path of Peril and nearer to the ocean."
He showed off a page to his book that looked as if it had been swept away by a hurricane. However the beach looked very pretty.
"There's a mountain in our vicinity that exceeds Raven's Point's altitude tremendously. There is a good chance we'll make it to Ocean's Orcania in two days time."
"Ocean's Orcania.." (y/n) mumbled. "It sounds beautiful."
"Oooh, (y/n), it most certainly is. It's turned into a good vacation spot for old folks." Barley flipped through his book once again and showed off a picture that looked all too familiar.
"Princess Titania Cybele toughly translates to Giant Mother in elven Greek. Her legend upholds that she is the heir to the universal throne, however her magic was taken from her. She stole magic from apprentice wizards and kept it for herself."
(Y/n) and I looked at each other in worry. I was more trained than she was, and I wouldn't consider myself an apprentice. But she... she was. Who knows what Titania could steal from her? I put my arm around her and brought her close.
"Our mission is to make it to the top of Ocean's Orcania and cast this spell upon Titania." He held up a page with a long spell written upon it. I gulped.
"Wait.." (y/n) sat up a little. "You said earlier this spell could only be used with the scale stone. It cracked."
"But on the contrary," Barley pulled a small stone out of his pocket, a smaller version of what we saw before. "When I went to pack everything I saw this inside Titania's shell. I guess this was destined to happen. This is the real Mermaid Scale Stone."
(Y/n) jumped a little and burrowed herself in my arms.
"Oh don't worry- I already did the research. This is a real stone. No egg." Barley placed the stone back in his pocket and (y/n)'s tension fell off her shoulders. I snuggled her closer and her hand fell on my chest.
"Now here-" he tossed the book over the fire and toward me. Miraculously I caught it with one hand, the other still around (y/n)'s shoulders.
"You two need to study up. The spell requires the power of two wizards, or a super, extremely advanced wizard. Which neither of you are." Barley smirked and (y/n) and I looked at the book. "Start practicing together! I'm gonna go dig in the van to see if I can find any marshmallows."

YOUR POV
A bare patch of grass seemed like the perfect place to start learning, and since I already knew a levitation spell I was ahead of the game.
"Okay. The next spell that I learned was Magnora Gantuan." Ian placard his hands together, trying to find something to gigantify. He searched in the grass and finally stood straight, holding a little three-eyes toad. I jumped a second at the sudden sight of the amphibian.
"Don't worry. He won't bite." Ian smirked in my direction and I rolled my eyes. Taking the stance I'd seen in history books, I lifted Ian's staff and furrowed my brow.
"Okay, here." Ian placed the toad on the ground in front of me and circled around behind me. His hands were gentle upon my elbows as he lifted them, then pressed a soft hand against my back, arching it slightly. "There. Like a natural." He smiled and rubbed my shoulder comfortingly. "Now repeat after me: Magnora Gantuan."
I took a deep breath before following his instruction.
"Magnora Gantuan!!"
The toad immediately grew with the spell, and I almost lost focus. I got myself back on track and heard Ian laugh in delight. "There it is! You've got it!"
I let go of the focus once the toad had grown to a decent size. I looked back at Ian and smiled, but his face grew worried. "(Y/n), watch out!"
I turned over to see the toad towering over me, and just when it was about to jump I fell to the ground with a thud.
Opening my eyes I saw the toad hop off and Ian on top of me. He must've pushed me over to avoid any damage.
I laughed and smiled. "I mean, you can't blame me. I did the spell right."
He chuckled and closed his eyes, adjusting himself to his elbows on either side of my body. "You amaze me."
We stared into each other's eyes with smiles never leaving our faces. There was a sense of peace there with us, and I felt like I could look into those handsome dark brown eyes for days.
I heard a thud and looked to see that the growth spell had worn off the toad. I smiled knowing we were safe once again, but something else caught my eye.
I gently shoved Ian off then helped him up off the ground, then took his hand to show him what I had seen.
Fireflies.
I had only heard of these little creatures in books, but in real life they were even more beautiful. Ian's eyes met the same wonder, and I giggled and went closer. The tall grass hid even more fireflies, and they lifted peacefully into the sky once I stepped toward them. They lit up the night sky and I was amazed. Looking over to Ian, I noticed his eyes were glued on me. His lips were softly smiling, and I couldn't help but smile back. The fireflies around us were perfect scenery for what he did next.
He took my hand and pulled me close. Our bodies now had no space in between, and his hand snakes around my waist, the other one still holding onto my own hand.
I laughed a little and smirked. "Smooth move, Lightfoot."
He smirked back, his fingers intertwining with mine. "Only the smoothest for you, (y/n)."
And with that I couldn't stand not kissing the boy any longer. I tugged at the collar of his shirt and pulled him close, our lips meeting at the perfect firmness. I closed my eyes, still feeling the presences of the hundred little bugs dancing around our atmosphere.
Ian's hand that held mine made its way to the back of my head, deepening the kiss and bringing me closer.
After a minute we released.
"So much for a magic lesson," he chuckled, moving some fallen hair out of my face.
"Eh," I replied with a shrug. "I like this better."
And with that I drew him in for another kiss, both of our bodies slowly falling to the ground and adjusting into the environment around us.
