"Mom, leave me alone to die," I say with a pillow over my head. I hear her sigh and sit down on my bed. I inch over to give her some room.

"Sweetheart," she pauses before continuing, "Connor left 4 weeks ago. Soph you don't need to let this tear you up." She tries to lift the pillow off of my head, but I hold it firmly.

"So? Just because he left 4 weeks ago does not mean that I'm over him. He was the first guy that I ever really loved."

"Connor is gone now. If he loved you then he would've-"

"What do you mean?!" I interrupt her sitting up straight in my bed. "He would've stayed?" She mutters something that I don't understand. "Mom, he had to go. And I believe that he loved me and didn't want to. He was here in Adelaide for a vacation. He had to go home to Minnesota. Just because of that doesn't mean he doesn't love me."

"Then why are you still upset?" she asks quietly staring out the window at the bright, blue ocean.

"I'm upset because he hasn't contacted me. I've called his number a reasonable amount of times, but he hasn't answered. Even if he can't be a love interest, I was hoping we could at least stay friends." I watch my mom stand up and walk towards the door. She stops.

"If you need anything just call, Soph." My mother then continues to walk out the door and shuts it behind her.

"Thanks mom," I mumble. "I'll be here... growing into an old lonely cat lady." Just then my orange Tabby cat, Felix, jumps up into my bed. "Hey there buddy," I say with a weird baby voice. "See I'll just get you some little friends and then I'll be a cat lady." Felix lays on top of my chest and I watch him rise and fall as I breath in and out. I wonder if Connor likes cats.
