I wake up to the light streaming through my window and glance at my clock. 9:52?! I told Tyler that I would meet him at 10! Crap I only have 10 minutes... or maybe its 8 minutes... whatever I'm not good at math!
I slip on a pair of denim shorts and a white T-shirt. My closet is not the most organized so it takes me a while to find my shoes. Once I finally find them and put them on, I rush into the bathroom and grab my brush. My hair is extremely tangled which does not help my situation. By now I have 2 minutes left and I'm racing out the door. Hopefully I didn't wake up mom.
I can see a figure with blue hair from a distance. I just know he is eventually going to run out of colors to dye his hair.
"Hey!" he yells running towards me with arms outstretched. He hugs me awkwardly.
"Hey to you too," I say as he pulls away from me.
"Fabulous isn't it?" he asks gesturing to his new bright blue hair.
"Yeah, it actually does look good on you," I admit. Tyler nods his head thank you. Then and awkward silence falls over us.
"Did you miss me?" he says suddenly startling me.
"Um, yeah. You are my best friend so yes." I reply staring off into space.
"Anything new happen?"
"Yeah."
"What is it?"
"I met a guy," I answer shyly.
"Aw that's great! Was he cute?" Tyler exclaims and I can hear what he really wants to know in his voice.
"Yes extremely, and don't get your hopes up he's straight."
"Aw," he says with a frown. "He'll become gay if he ever meets me," Tyler smiles slightly.
"One, he's probably never coming back here. Two, you wouldn't steal him from me would you?"
"No," he pauses, "I couldn't do that."
After a while of talking and splashing each other with the salty ocean water, we finally get tired and sit down on the rocks.
"Hey... look at this." Tyler gets up and jumps from one rock to the other.
"You're gonna get hurt."
"Nuh-uh!" he shoots back in a baby voice. Tyler stand on the rock and acts like he's the king of the world.
"You're such a child." I laugh at him as he continues to act stupid. "Ty, what is wrong with you? I've known you for forever and I still can't figure it out."
"Its not 'Ty', its Tyler Oakley The Great!" he shouts jumping down from his 'throne'.
"What ever you say I guess." He smiles and sits down next to me. Why are all the cute guys gay? Well at least Connor isn't... well he could be bi, I didn't really ask.
"Hey, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah sure," he answers still looking out across the ocean. The blue water almost matches his blue hair.
"How did you become gay?" I question immediately wanting to take it back. I should have thought about how I was going word that. Tyler doesn't answer me for a few minutes. Did I hurt his feelings?
"Well..." he starts, "I could give you the easy answer that I did because I like boys, but I think it was much more than that."
I listen closely waiting for his answer.
He sighs. "I've been gay for as long as I can remember. I think I became one because of Zac Efron."
"What?"
"Let's be honest, Zac Efron is pretty cute." Tyler smiles at me and laughs. "I'm joking."
I just stare at him and shake my head with a smile.
"Okay so the real story is that I had a few man-crushes and they developed into something more. Thus making me be classified as gay." He pauses and then continues, "How did that question come up?"
"I was just thinking about how it seems that all the cute guys are gay."
"Aw, does that mean you think I'm cute?"
"Um.. yeah."
"Thanks... I know why all the cute guys are gay."
"Why's that?"
"Because they all like me," he states in a matter-of-fact sort of way.
"Oh sure," I answer sarcastically with a smile.
