SOPHIE'S POV
"Sophia, Connor isn't coming back."
"How could you say that?" I ask my mom wanting to burst into tears. She is the worst at comforting people.
"Honey," mom sighs, "you need to forget about him. Why don't you date that nice guy Tyler? You are best friends and he is handsome."
I stare at her. She doesn't know he's gay?! "Mom I can't."
"Why not?"
"Because."
"Because why?" she keeps on.
"Because... um... he's the 'g word'," I manage. My mother looks at me with a blank expression and I can tell she has no idea what I mean.
"What 'g word'? Giraffe? Gorilla?"
"No! Mom, he's gay!"
"Oh... um... okay," she says looking startled. She gets up and walks out of the room. "Um... I'm going to the store... I'll be back in a bit."
Just then my phone rings and its Tyler. "Hello?"
"Hey, meet me down at the beach. I've got a surprise."
"Okay, I'm on my way," I reply hanging up. I get up out of bed and head to the bathroom to brush my hair. After I'm finished, I find my shoes and rush out the door to the beach.
I can see three boys. One with blue hair and the others with brown hair. As I come closer to them my heart races. Am I dreaming? That's not Connor is it? One of the boys with brown hair runs toward me the other two right behind him.
"Oh my gosh! I thought I'd never see you again!" a quite familiar voice says. I stare at him in shock.
"Connor!" I exclaim happily. He throws his arms around me.
"So I guess you know each other," Tyler comments. Connor and I both nod.
"Who's this?" I politely ask looking at the other brown-haired boy. He nods hello to me.
"This is Troye. He is apparently Connor's best friend," Tyler tells me smiling.
"Yes, Connor and I go way back," Troye agrees.
"So why are you guys here now?" I question. "Its not that I'm not grateful, but I was just wondering."
"Well..." Troye starts. He and Tyler both look at each other and smile. Connor and I can both tell what's coming.
"Troye and I are... um... we are dating," Tyler says putting his arm around Troye.
