Beomgyu woke up with the sun shining in his face and grumpily sat up in bed to avoid the rays of light heating up his skin. He let out a soft hum as he stretched and rubbed his eyes before haphazardly patting behind him on the bed in an attempt to locate his phone. Instead, he ended up giving a light slap to Soobin's cheek, and the two jolted up at the same time, Soobin because he had been suddenly awakened and Beomgyu because he hadn't expected to hit the taller."Sorry," Beomgyu mumbled raspily, eyes still half-shut. Soobin hummed back a response before tossing around on the bed and settling back in to sleep some more. Beomgyu slipped out of the covers before stumbling over to Soobin's dresser, pulling out a random shirt, and putting it on. By the time he had washed his face and brushed his teeth with the toothbrush Soobin always kept in his bathroom for him, he was already fully awake and ready to make breakfast. He traversed into the kitchen, pulling out the ingredients to make a small feast for him and Soobin.
Beomgyu and Soobin were as close as brothers, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary for Beomgyu to sleepover at Soobin's apartment sometimes for a few days straight. The two had lived together for some of their adolescence and even for a few months in Beomgyu's apartment while Soobin saved up for his own, so spending the night was in the range of normalcy for the pair.
Beomgyu began to make pancakes for the both of them, sprinkling chocolate chips into the batter and reminding himself to let Soobin's pancakes sit on the pan a little longer than usual because the older liked them a little more on the crispy side. He quickly finished up stacks for the two and set them up on plates with syrup over top. He decided to serve himself a bowl of cereal as well to accompany his main meal and subsequently carried the food on a tray to the bedroom, where Soobin was now somewhat awake but still very groggy.
"Thank you," Soobin mumbled in his morning voice as Beomgyu set the tray down on the bed. They both dug into their food, enjoying each other's presence in comfortable silence.
"Why'd you come over last night by the way?" Soobin asked out of the blue, helping himself to some of Beomgyu's cereal.
The previous night Beomgyu had arrived unannounced, which hadn't bothered Soobin, but definitely made him curious seeing as Beomgyu always asked if he could come over before doing so. After all, they were both adults with differing work schedules, so a surprise arrival wasn't something they could do anymore like in their previous teenage years.
Beomgyu stayed quiet, feeling a little nervous. He was very close to Soobin, but talking about his feelings was still something that he had difficulties with even if he had improved over their many years of friendship. Soobin knew this, so he always made sure to wait for Beomgyu to be ready to open up instead of pressuring him. They stayed in silence for a few seconds before Beomgyu finally got the courage to speak.
"I felt lonely," he said, slightly cringing at himself for admitting it. "I suddenly missed you living in my apartment where we would hang out constantly and play video games and just have a good time. It was nice having you as company, but now the whole apartment feels bare... That's why I came over."
A sympathetic expression washed over Soobin's face. He definitely missed living with his best friend, but he didn't think Beomgyu was so affected by it.
"Why'd you even move out anyways? You were always welcome to stay and room with me," Beomgyu insisted, no longer eating, but rather pushing his food around the plate.
"I wanted my own space," Soobin simply stated. "Besides, we saved ourselves some tension."
"Tension?" Beomgyu mumbled. Soobin gave a slight chuckle.
"I'm talking about having others over. How awkward would it have been if either of us had brought people home if we were living together?"
"People?" Beomgyu asked with a look of confusion on his face. "Like one-night stands? I don't do one-night stands, and you definitely don't do those since you're kinda prudish."
