WARNING: SLIGHT ABUSE

"sunshine?" his dad demanded, shoving the screen phone in his face. "what are you, some girl*?"

"osamu used to call me it…" suna mumbled in reply, shrugging. "i liked it."

"osamu?" his dad hissed, "miya
Osamu? The fucker who killed himari?"

suna's ears twitched sensitivly at his dad's use of the word and he quickly snapped, "don't talk about him like that."

suna saw his father's hands trembling by his sides, his face flushed bright and a look upon his face that told suna he was close to hitting him.

"i'll talk about him however I want to, rintarou." he said, his voice tight and brimming with rage. "he was responsible for the death of my daughter which left me with you."

suna wrinkled his nose. on any other day, he would have kept his mouth shut and would have taken his father's verbal abuse, but the aftereffect of the drugs pushed him on to carelessly retort:

"oh yeah? you hate me or somethin?"

the tension was nothing like what it had been with osamu and suna earlier.

it was a totally different kind of tension, one that threatened violence rather than uneasiness.

suna's dad seemed to come undone at suna's question.

suna's phone hit the wall with a bang and then his father lurched towards him, his hands ripping suna off his bed and slamming him against the wall.

alarm raced across suna's face, his fight or flight response kicking in and his heart throbbing in his ears so loud he swore his father could hear it.

"IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU!" his dad sneered, "IN HIMARI'S PLACE!"

suna stared at his father with wide eyes, disbelief painted across his sharp features.

"himari was more than you could ever be!  you're such a mistake, rintarou! i never wanted a son who goes around playing a girls' sport and getting high and fucking--"

"shut your mouth."

the calm voice of suna's mother intervened, her eyes dark. "you've said quite enough."

suna's dad glared at her, his grip tightening on suna's shirt and making suna uneasy.

"let him go." his mother said sharply.

with reluctance, he slowly let suna go, leaving wrinkled marks where his hands had so tightly gripped.

no other words were exchanged between the three before suna's mother shut his door and her footsteps, along with her husband's, thudded down the hallway until they disappeared down the stairs.

as soon as his door clicked shut suna sunk down the wall, his eyes staring blankly at the wall across from him.

his shoulders ached from the wall his father had slammed him into.

tears slipped down his face, his chest aching with regret and anger and hate and confusion and everything he could feel until he thought he would burst.
