the rest of the night went slowly and painfully.

after the awkward conversation the two shared, osamu felt like he had nothing more to say. he was hurt by suna’s words, by his cold eyes, by his obvious disdain towards osamu. he made it quite obvious that he didnt like osamu, and never planned to ever again.

it was like they were total strangers.

the torture was agonozing.

their dinner ended quickly. suna seemed eager to get home, so osamu paid the bill glumly and began his solemn walk back to suna’s house.

what had he even expected?

and now that he knew suna was moving….

the air was getting crisp because the sun had already begun to set while they had been eating dinner, taking with it all its warmth.

dim light bathed the two, and soon it was dark outside. the street lights were the only thing illuminating the darkness as they arrived at suna's house. their footsteps were light, one of the many sounds of the busy city.

“thanks for dinner.” suna said with a monotone voice. “It was nice seeing an old highschool friend, i guess.”

“wait, suna.” osamu reached for his arm as suna had tried turning away.

    suna waited.

osamu felt the sting of suna’s inevidable departure, the stinging of his sharp words. the coldness in his eyes that invited no warmth, nothing like they had been in highschool. he felt the longing for whatever they had had in highschool, even though it had been messy and graceless.

he spoke to suna’s back as he quietly confessed,

    “i love you, suna.”
