"HELP!"
I shouted into the strange darkness around me. I have no idea what the heck is going on. I was in bed one second, the next I'm in complete darkness, being held against my will. Why me? I screamed in fear!
Then I woke up with tears in my eyes. No, wait! The tears were on my face! Did I seriously cry in my sleep? I guess I can do that. Well, at least I'm still in my desert home. I felt a sudden ring of excitement as something dawned on me. I am sixteen! It kept sceaming in my head. Today is my sixteenth birthday. I have lived in this house all my life, so this is exciting for me.
It's about time I have left. After all, it is part of the rules here. Every sixteen year old must decide to live nearby or in a completey different chunk. I have already decided that I will leave the very chunk I have lived on all my life. At least I won't go too far and I will be able to visit my family. I don't want to leave them behind comepletely.
I opened the door to the living room just to be suprised with a cheer, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIST!" I jumped back and then relaxed. This is going to be very nice. And today and today only I will choose the area I can claim to make my home. Thank goodness I made sure that all the tears had dried off before I entered the room. The kitchen was filled with family and friends. Some of my family I barely know about. All I really live with is my parents and my ten year old sister, Magma. I just hope they can get along with an empty chair. There was Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Steve, Uncle Joe, and all my friends John, Katey, Nina, and Sarah. All of them are here!
I then walked over to my friends and family and gave each one a personal hug, a tradition for birthdays. After each tear-soaking hug, I sat in the birthday chair, which had an iron ingot on the top of it, sticking out of the top of the middle oak beam. I watched as the torch on my birthday cake lit up and everyone sang "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Trist. Happy birthday to you!" And Grandma and Grandpa sang, "and many more!" I laughed and secretly wished I was going to make it alive on my first night.
As I blew out the torch, I looked out the window and realized how early it was. The sun was almost completely out. Wow! I usually never wake up this early. Everyone cheered and my friends jumped up and down in joy. I couldn't believe I was going to leave them behind. But then again, I won't be too far. In fact, I would be almost walking distance from home. At least I hope so.
I then had gifts pile up on top of me. I looked into the first one and found an iron pickaxe inside. "This will help you on your first day," Grandma spoke wisely, "It saved my neck multiple times before I met your Grandpa." And she glanced over to him and then I felt the same feeling of disgust as I usually do whenever they do that. But will it happen to me? It would be fantastic if I find someone to live with and start my own civilization. Maybe my grandchildren will live in the same house I will live in.
Then the second one came to me, which was pretty small. But when I opened it, I found something I would never put down again! A necklace with a locket that had a key on it appeared, which was from all my friends. Nina spoke up, "We all participated in this. We had a photographer to take pictures of us all. Then we made the locket, put our names in it, and put our pictures in the slots. It's so you can remember us while you are out there alone, until we meet again." I got up and hugged all four of them. This was the best gift so far.
I put the necklace around my neck and then went for present number three, the second to the last one. It was from both of my parents, and when I opened it, I found a compass. "It will lead you home, so if you need anything, you can come back," mom gestured proudly. I knew I would need it, so I put it in my back pocket.
The last present was from both of my uncles, which had a bow and quiver full of arrows inside. "So you would have a weapon with you all the time. I've seen you with the bow, and you are amazing with it," Uncle Steve leaned on the wall beside Uncle Joe. I hugged all of them. I just hope I would be able to live. That is the only thing I have to worry about. After the first night, everything would be fine. At least I heard.
A few hours later, I was hugging everyone that was there. I had a very large pack on my shoulders, but most of it was light-weight stuff, like food and small books on survival. I started stepping back after I have hugged Sarah one last time. Tears were going down my cheek. And before I knew it I was going to the town hall. I'm out of here!

HEY PEOPLE!
I told you guys I was going to make a new story! Oh and to those that just randomly dropped by, nice to meet you. Less than an hour ago I have finally got part four of Fire Hearts (this no longer exists) out. If this was a bit too lengthy (at least before I started writing 2000 something word parts in other stories), sorry! I tried to keep it medium length, but they somehow manage to rather become too long or too stort! Sooooo..... Let me say the usual stuff!
