When I woke up, I had black circles beneath my eyes.
My parents weren't home, so I took breakfast with Marina and Guzman.
They were both on weird moods.
No one had spoken yet, so I dared to ask, "Are we driving to school today?"
"Yes" Guzman said, the same moment as Marina said "I want to walk"
"Oh, okay...." I said hesitantly "Guzman, I'm coming with you"
After a while Guzman left the table.
"Why the hell did you leave me alone last night?" I asked Marina.
"You're not a baby, Iréne. I think you can handle yourself just fine. Besides I'm sure Ander took care of you" she said looking completely calm and unbothered.
"Ssssh! Guzman might hear us. Anyway." I didn't want to push the matter. "Where did you go? You really wanted to go to that party and you left early. But you're lucky cause you missed Guzman spoiling our fun. And the police." I tried to make her laugh.
"I came home" she wasn't looking at me. Her face still bored.
"Alone?"
"Yes" she said and stood up.
"Hey wait" I said and stood up, grabbing her hand. "Are you ok? You're acting a bit weird. Did something happen last night?" I was truly concerned.
"Nothing happened! Why can't you just leave me alone!?" She yelled
"Marina.." I started, but she'd already left.
What the hell was that. She was just fine at the party.
"Are you ready to go?" Guzman put me out of my thoughts.
"Yes yes just a moment to grab my bag"

We were half the way to school when I dared to ask him, "have you talked to Ander?"
"No."
"I think you should-"
"Iréne. Drop it" he interrupted.
"Ok... Are you mad at me?" I asked, as if I didn't know.
"Yes."
"About the party?"
"Yes"
"Because I didn't tell you I was going or because it was Samuel's party?"
"I don't know. Both."
"Guzman, you know that I don't like lying to you. But you're such a..... stubborn ass, that I don't have a choice. And staying locked up in the house isn't a choice"
He didn't answer immediately. "These people aren't good for us, Iréne. And neither you nor Marina seem to get that."
"These people are not Pablo, Guzman. Their status doesn't make them bad. You just need to give them a chance. I saw you... I saw you leaving with Nadia last night. Why is she different from them, huh? If you think that low of them, you shouldn't be hanging with Nadia" I was looking at him waiting for an answer, but we'd reached the school parking and he didn't say anything.
We got out of the car and walked to the door. The first thing I saw was Ander standing near the middle of the hallway, with his headphones on.
"Hey" both me and Guzman told him.
When he didn't seem to notice us, Guzman shook his hand in front of his face.
"Hey" Ander said and seemed a little startled.
I noticed his hand was tied up. "What happened?"
"What do you mean what happened?" His father appeared out of nowhere. "He hit it at your pool"
I frowned my brows and looked at Guzman, who was looking at Ander.
"Yes yes, it happened last night but I didn't know it was that serious. I looked away for one moment and it happened."
Guzman walked away slowly, looking at Ander all the way.
I looked at Ander for a moment and went after Guzman.
I found him already in class, sitting on his desk. I sat next to him.
"Was Ander home last night?"
"No of course he wasn't. I don't know where the hell he went after that stupid party"

I was at the pool room with Lu. I was telling her about the party when she suddenly drifted off, staring behind me.
I turned my head and saw Guzman talking to Nadia. They were smiling and laughing.
Crap.
"Lu... they're just talking" I hadn't told her about Guzman leaving with Nadia. I felt a bit guilty, but... she was Lu...
It was time to start swimming. I was never the first, but also never the last.
Lu was standing between me and Nadia, all three of us ready to dive in.
"I'm just telling you this as a friend." Lu told Nadia. Shit.
"Lu, don't do that" I said and she completely ignored me.
"Are we friends?" Nadia asked.
"No" Lu said with a fake smile. "He bet he would take your virginity because you threatened him in his house. He's quite vengeful." She finished as coach's whistle sounded and she dove in.
Nadia was as still as possible, and was now staring at Guzman. I waited one more second before I got in the pool. Damn.

I didn't manage to say a word to Ander all day. I knew he was avoiding me. I'd let Guzman talk to him. He was his best friend after all. I didn't know why I cared so much about him though...
