~Chapter 22~

  I slept better than I had in days. I was calm, although I knew that Guzman would probably be a pain in my ass for the whole day. I felt like something inside me was finally settled...

  It was the day of the exams, but I wasn't really nervous. I was always a good student, just not one of the top ones. And at night, there was the school party.
 
  Yesterday I didn't even want to hear about it. But now I felt like going. It could be fun. Dancing with Ander, not caring if anyone sees us... I wanted to go. To put on a nice dress. To have fun with my friends and my siblings...

  I went to the kitchen table, hoping to find Guzman, so that we could talk.

  Instead I found Marina. She was alone, talking on the phone with someone. She was trying to keep her voice quiet. She didn't notice me when I entered the room.

  "Tonight. I'll be waiting for you."
She seemed to hesitate before saying,
"Yes. I'm sure."

  What was going to happen today? I knew I shouldn't but I didn't talk to her, and waited to hear more.

  "Yes I know. I love you too."

  Who was she talking to?

  "Bye" she said with a sweet voice before hanging up.

  For two seconds I debated whether I should let her know that I'd been there for a while or to pretend that I'd just arrived.

  "Marina.." she turned around a bit startled.

  "Oh finally you're out of your room!"
She stood up and hugged me,
"Did you talk with Ander last night? Are you ok now?" She asked and waited for me to answer.

  "Yes yes..." a small smile appeared on my lips, "all good. We are... more than good actually. We have to deal with Guzman now, but it'll be ok.." I laughed a bit in the end.

  "Thank god!"

  "No. Thank you for everything.. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have done anything in the first place."

  "That's what I'm here for!" she sat down again and waved at me to sit next to her, "will you eat with me?"

  I didn't answer and just sat in the chair beside hers.
"So... I heard you on the phone.." I tried to say casually. "Who were you talking to?" I tried to act as if I wasn't dying to know.

  She immediately tensed.
"No-one... just a friend."

  Thank God I wasn't that dumb.
"And are you going out tonight or something?"

  She avoided looking at me,
"No no it's the party at school tonight..."

  Okay that was enough, "Marina who were you talking to?"
She looked ready to be pissed, so I added,
"I don't wanna judge you I just care about you and I want to know"

  She didn't answer immediately. I thought she wouldn't, until she said,
"It was Nano."
My eyes widened.
"Don't ask something else I'm not going to answer" she said and then left.

  It made sense... she was carrying his child so.. but she'd said "I love you"...
Were they together? Did Samuel know?
And what were they about to do tonight?

  I knew what I had to do.

  I ate something fast and got ready to go to school. It was the exams day so my visit had to wait.

  When I was ready I went to Guzman's room. I had to deal with that too.

  When I entered, he was putting on his shirt.
"Don't you ever knock?" He asked annoyed.
