' Well that was easier then I thought, when do I start? " Sanem asked smiling. Maya laughed, "How about Wednesday, can you be here at 7:00 am.? " We will fill out the paperwork then. " Sanem agreed, with a smile. This is great, I'm really doing this. She walked back to her apartment, taking notice of how long it took for the walk so she wouldn't be late for work. Her phone rang just as she arrived home. It was her Mom, " Hello momma, how are you ? " Mevkibe was very protective of her daughters, having Sanem living in the city brought her anxiety. With much excitement Sanem told her mom about the job, just how perfect it was and how close it was to her house.. Her mother told her how happy she was for her. They talked for a few minutes, before Mevkibe asked her if she had heard from Can. Sanem told her that he had texted her a couple of times, and she did reply. Mevkibe was hoping the problems between the two would quickly work themselves out..Although she was upset with Can for going off on this climbing trip with things in such a turmoil with Sanem..Promising her mother she would take care of herself, they hung up.
Her dinner was a light one, just a salad and tea. She had to finish the next few chapters of the book. With the book almost halfway finished, she felt her inspiration was at it's peak. She had one day before she would start her job, and her time to write would come just in the evenings. She ate and cleaned her dishes, settling down to write, her mind recalled the times that she was trying to write her first book and Can offered a multitude of things to help her get inspired. He wouldn't have any memory of things like that, the little things that meant so much to her. The yearning for him was so strong she thought her chest would burst. She knew that part of her life was over, but the constant replays gave her peace of mind.
Her excitement ran high on Wednesday, with the walk taking approximately 15 minutes, she wanted to be out the door by 6:40. She arrived in record time, Maya was already there, getting things set up.. First they did the paperwork, then a brief rundown of how everything worked. The other person that worked there was Selim, he was a little younger than Sanem. They hit it off instantly as he showed her the ropes, although it was all pretty easy. Maya was great, very hands on in teaching her the different recipes for the coffee. The first day turned out to be more fun than she expected.. Toward the end of her shift Maya called her to the back, thinking she did something wrong she was a little nervous. " Sanem, are you Sanem Aydin the author? " She inquired shyly. " Yes, " Sanem answered. " Is that a problem? " almost scared to hear the answer.." No, No. " she blurted, " Just one of our customers recognized you and brought it to my attention. " I was just wondering why you chose to work here, when you are a famous author. " Sanem explained her situation, and the fact she was in the middle of her second book. She needed a diversion from her writing part of the day and had decided to get a part time job. Maya relayed how happy they were to her there with them.
She also extended an invitation for her to join Selim and herself sometime after work for a drink. Occasionally they would go over to this popular club and have some fun..Sanem said she would definitely think about it.. She made her way home , more tired then she thought she would be, stretched out on the sofa, and played the day over in her head..It actually had been a lot of fun...
As she let her mind wander, she thought of Can, remembering that he would be arriving home on Saturday. She wondered how he would react when he found out she was gone, maybe he wouldn't even care. But if he asked she would have to tell him why, so she would have to be ready with her answer... This time apart might have been just what he needed to close the door on the last 2 years of his life. That meant moving away from her and what he didn't remember. With the tears filling her eyes, and the ache in her heart preparing her for the worst, she reached for her tablet to write. She seemed to put her words down better on paper when she felt that little heartache..
The next two days had been a lot of fun. Getting to know the customers, many were regulars that came every day. Several of them recognized her and asked for her to autograph their book. All in all she felt like she was finally living.. They invited her to join them at the club downtown on Friday night, at first her answer was No, but then she reconsider and excepted. The club was a little farther than the coffee shop, but not far..she told them she would meet them there..Maya was elated , " Be there a 8:00, it doesn't start getting to be fun until after 10:00." Sanem was worried about staying out that late but thought she could leave when she was ready.. Don't close yourself off, she told herself, it's Ok to have fun...
They were right, it didn't start getting fun until 11:00pm but by then Sanem was past ready to go home. She endured it until 12:00 and then said her goodbyes and went to catch a taxi home.. It had been a good time, but not what Sanem had been use to. It will take some practice learning how to have fun..
It didn't take long for her to go to sleep that night. She woke at 7:30 and felt like she'd slept the day away. She showered and fixed her breakfast, trying to keep Can from entering her mind. She had a lot of questions running through her head, wondering what time he would be home, would he call her immediately or not even bother to try an find her? " All these uncertainties roamed around her head, like a bad dream. Her imagination was going wild, it was about to throw her into a panic attack..
They dropped Can off at the farm about 3:00 in the afternoon. He was glad to be home and ready to get some rest so he quickly unpacked his bag. Time to get a good hot shower and fresh clothes. Within 30 minutes he felt like a new man. He dumped his laundry in the washer and got them started. The mail had stacked up but he would look through that later, he thought, as he made his way Sanem's house. The door was shut, which was hardly ever the case, and it was locked. He looked in and saw the furniture was all covered with white sheets. What's going on, he thought. He walked to Meriban's but also no one home. Had they gone a trip? No, Sanem would have told me. He reaches for his phone and dials her number...... There was no answer..... He decided to send a text.....
Hey, I'm home, your house is locked and the furniture is covered. Where are you.........Call me..
