Lexa Callero's POV

Kace Hollander.

There he is, sitting on the box, with a cigarette in his hand, and smoke from his mouth. How can someone be so fucking casual in the middle of an ambush? His leather jacket is rolled at the sleeves, giving me a clearer view of the new tattoos he's gained since high school. A long snake trailing up and around his arm is the most visible one, but there are many additional small ones in between.

I turn my head immediately and lean back against the wall, not wanting him to see that I'm here just yet. I grab six knives and hold three in each hand, with anticipation running through my nerves.

He's here...he's here and alive. Part of me wished that somewhere in the five years I haven't seen him he had been killed somehow. It would surely make things easier, and I dreaded having to see him again with the shameful knowledge of what we did.

Those hopes died when I saw him last night, but it's somehow now just setting in. He's alive, now I need to be the one to kill him. And I'm going to make it painful and long lasting.

I swiftly run around the corner, knives out and ready, only to be met with a force shoving me back to the wall, and a strong body being pushed against mine, trapping me.

"Long time no see, Callero," Hollander scowls, looking down at me. He stares at me with such hatred which I gladly reflect back to him.

His hands pin mine to the wall, leaving me no room to use my knives, and his hips trap the rest of my body so I can't fight back yet.

"Lexa? Who is that? Do you need backup?" My father says from the earpiece. Hollander is so close that he hears it, and yanks out the ear piece a moment later. He throws it to the ground and crushes it with his foot.

"Hollander, wish I could say it's a pleasure. Did you enjoy the surprise I left you last night?" I ask, shifting my lips to a poisonous grin.

His eyes darken a significant amount more, and I don't let him respond before I use my free legs to sweep his from the floor, and instead pin him to the wall, using my elbows and legs to keep him in place, although it's hard being so much smaller than him,

Hollander finds no humor in my remark, and almost immediately pushes against the wall, causing me to go stumbling backwards. But I grab onto his neck which causes him to come tumbling down with me.

This didn't really work out in my favor, though, as he is now on top of me on the floor, reflecting all his body weight, and keeping my hands tied above my head.
