Lexa Callero's POV

Lust is a strange thing, isn't it. That feeling where you get trapped under one's touch, and lose all the power to control yourself. That feeling where all your reason gets lost in the abyss of your mind, behind your body's pleasurable needs. When you're unable to think properly; when you feel powerless.

Powerless isn't a feeling I'm accustomed to.

I'm a ruler, an heiress. I take the control, I take the power. I'm never one to let anything distract me from what I'm meant to do. I'm so structured in my duties and obligations that I block out anything that could even have the slightest chance from driving me away from that.

And yet, I can't seem to even block out Kace from my own mind.

I'm playing a dangerous game with him. We both are. We both know the stakes at risk. We know a forbidden relationship between the two heirs of the most incredible mafias will do nothing but lead to destruction. And yet, our knowledge completely corrupts when we're in each others' grasps.

My body craves him like no other. I urge to feel his touch, his lips, and I know I can't deny that. I've already tried. But I know what we have is wrong, and I can never jeopardize my responsibilities.

"Alexia Dray Callero!" Viola screams over the phone once I pick up, addressing me by my full name. "Why the fuck haven't you called me once?"

It's currently the morning after the Halloween party, and Viola has been calling me non stop since I left the estate.

"Chill Vi, I've been busy with the mission," I tell her, rolling my eyes and lighting a cigarette as I walk out to my balcony. The view is beautiful out here, and it's my favorite part about this apartment.

"Excuses, excuses. But I'll let it go because father is screaming at me to let him talk to you," she says again.

"Give him the phone," I respond curiously. There's a pause before my father speaks.

"Lexa," my father addresses me.

"Father," I respond back.

"I need you to come for a new mission. It's minor but important, you will be back by tonight," he calmly states.

I'd totally be down for a new mission. I've been missing lots of action lately and there are probably cobwebs on my poor lonely guns.

"Understood. What's the mission?" I casually reply, although I'm grinning from ear to ear.

"It's quite complicated, and I don't have it completely thought out. We've developed some new problems with the Russians. We had a fair deal with them to evenly split one of the biggest upcoming shipments. But according to my spies, they've gotten new intel on the arrival of the shipment that they are hiding from us. They are keeping the information at a safe house near the coast, which is heavily guarded. I'm not worried about the guards though, I know you can easily take them out," father speaks thoroughly over the phone.

"Then what's the problem? I break in and get the information. Simple," I say, wondering what's so complicated about an easy little mission.

"As I've said, I'm not worried about the guards. What I'm worried about is the fact that it's absolutely impossible to break in without the enter codes. Not even the guards know the codes, so it's not like you can torture them into telling you. The only way to enter would be with extremely advanced hacking, way out of our system. We can't ask the Greeks for help, due to your current mission with them. And the only people even near to hacking as well as the Greeks are the Americans, but you know they will never help us with our rivalry going. I was wondering if you have any ideas," he speaks.

I listen to what he says, and pause for a bit, thinking about a very risky possible solution. But unfortunately, it's the only one I have.

"Out of curiosity, do the Americans have any problems with the Russians as well?" I ask him for the sake of my solution.

"I believe so. From what I've heard, the Russians had a deal with the Americans to share the shipment with them too. Now that they have the new intel, they're going against their deal. The Americans aren't too happy about it. Why do you ask?" father says, which makes my risky solution quite a good one.

"No reason. I'll handle it, I know what to do. I'll inform you when I've completed the mission. Send me the location details," I respond, sighing and blowing out my cigarette.

"Thank you, Lexa. Make sure you know what you're doing," he advises, to which I roll my eyes.

"I always do. Bye father," I say before I hang up.

I head back inside from my balcony, keeping my cigarette on my lips. I slip out of my burgundy silk robe, and change into proper mission attire—black leggings and a blood red crop top with a deep V-neck.

I throw on a leather jacket and wear my combat boots, applying some makeup with a red lip. I also tuck in my toys into the sown on straps in my jacket, and store some ammo in my pockets. I don't bother putting on my wig, seeing as I'm not going undercover, so I let my natural white hair flow down to my back.

Once I finish, I take more puffs from my cigarette, stressing what I know I have to do next. I give myself a long pep-talk about how I will stay completely in control, and how I won't let my body's wants get the best of me.

I take a few deep breaths, assuring myself that I will stay in my head, and head out the door, turning to stop at Kace's apartment door.

I heavily knock a few times as I wait before he swings the door open, and smirks once he sees me standing there crossed arms. He raises and eyebrow, still smirking, as if asking why I'm here.

"I need your help."
