"Happy birthday princess!" My daddy yells with a huge pancake breakfast and our puppy, Joy, follows right behind him.
I smile from my spot in my bed and squeal as Joy jumps onto my bed and licks all over my face. "Thank you daddy," I say as I pull Joy into my arms, caging her.
He puts down the food on my bedside drawer and sits on the bed.
I look up at him and frown slightly as he stares me down. Becoming more and more uncomfortable the longer he stares at me.

"Daddy?"
He closes his eyes and sighs as my voice echoes throughout the room.
Opening his eyes, he stares straight at me, "Yes baby?"
"Can I eat now, please?"
"Yes, yes of course princess. Go put Joy in her room so she doesn't try to steal any of your food, okay?"
"Yes sir."
I jump from my bed with Joy cuddled into my arms and make my way to her doggy room. Daddy said she needed just as much room as we did and made one of the guest rooms a doggy play den when we got her for my 10th birthday.

I set Joy down in her room watching as she runs up the stairs and onto one of her doggy beds. Making sure she's alright I close her door and make my way back to my room anxiously.
Daddy had been staring at me a lot more nowadays. Like how I see the other dads look at the moms at the park. Almost like he was looking at sweets.
But I think that that's just what daddies do.
"Aribelle, what took you so long? You don't want to eat cold food do you?" He laughs, holding the plate to me as I settle back into my bed.
"No, sorry daddy. I just wanted to make sure that Joy was alright before I came back."
"You know, sometimes I think you love Joy more than you love daddy." He pouts and I look up at him in despair.
"No daddy! I could never love anyone more than you, I'd do anything for you."
"Daddy knows princess." He smiles caressing my cheek. "You've grown so much princess, such a beautiful young woman you are."
