The most wonderful gift

Hana could heard groans and the flushing sound of the toilet coming from their adjacent bathroom. It had to be the third time that Daniel had gone into the bathroom this morning.

He was meant to head to the office earlier this morning but clearly wasn't in the best condition to do so. Hana had to stop him from leaving their new home; he was stubborn. However, Hana used his one weakness; her lips.

He agreed after some kisses and some begging. Hana didn't like acting extra affectionate but now it proved to be the right decision. Daniel was clearly not feeling well.

He had been like this for a couple of weeks now. At least they had thought he might have caught the virus, but his tests were negative. Even his antibodies test as well. They even quarantined for 2 weeks to be sure.

They, then, check if it was his gastroenteritis. It wasn't that.

Hana didn't know what was wrong with him and that worried her. She couldn't just sit around anymore. She picked up his phone before dialing, "Secretary Park, I need you to make an appointment at the private clinic."

Daniel had come out when Hana finished her call. She rushed over to hug Daniel, fearing him might be too weak to stand on his own.

Daniel just smiled when she wrapped her arms around him, "What's this for?"

"Nothing. I just love you. Now lets get changed."

Daniel didn't argue since he knew he wouldn't win.

Secretary Park drove them to one of the private clinics owned by her family. When they checked it, they were immediately brought to a doctor.

"What are your symptoms?"

"Nausea and some mode swings."

Secretary Park couldn't help but snicker. Daniel had fired one of the female employees for getting too close to him and hired an intern for entering his office without permission. Some mood swings they were.

The doctor quickly glanced over at Hana, "How long have you been feeling like this?"

"For a couple of months now."

The doctor tilted his head, "I would like to take some blood tests. Is it all right if your wife does one as well?"

Hana was shocked that the doctor would ask her to do a blood test as well. She was clearly healthy.

After they took the blood tubes, Hana couldn't help but wonder why he had asked her to do it as well.

The doctor soon returned with a smile on his face, "As I thought. Congratulations, you're expecting a baby."

A baby?

She was pregnant?

How?

Wait she knew how a baby was conceived but she was told it was difficult for her to get pregnant again.

She didn't heard the doctor say she was 22 weeks pregnant.

Wait she wasn't even showing?

She did gain some weight but it wasn't noticeable. Hana had been almost borderline underweight for her height since her debut. She looked healthy now.

Was this because she was pregnant?

Daniel just looked at Hana. She was in shock; trying to progress everything.

"Are you sure doctor? We were told that my wife would have a difficult time getting pregnant after her car crash."

The doctor seemed to understand their worries, "Would you like to do an ultrasound? To check your baby and her uterus?"

Those words broke Hana's thoughts. An ultrasound would reassure her.

The gel felt cold and strange.

"Here's the head."

The doctor continued to show them the baby.

"Oh, you're expecting a little boy."

Hana knew 22 weeks was the right time to find out the sex of the baby. She was expecting a baby boy.

The tears just started falling.

She had thought she would never have a child. Now she was pregnant.

Daniel held her in his arms. No wonder he couldn't stand the smell of his usual morning coffee.

It was because he was feeling the symptoms for her.

But he couldn't help but ask, "What about her uterus?"

The doctor seemed conflicted, "It's perfectly healthy. I don't know why you were informed that she couldn't get pregnant again."

Daniel's eyes darkened. It seemed like something was trying to harm Hana emotionally prior to his return.

On the drive back, Daniel just held Hana's hand.

Hana had to start a new diet and start taking her prenatal vitamins. For the sake of her body and that of her baby's.

Hana was afraid.

This baby was now her priority. She need to keep him safe. She now knew that someone had been targeting her since the car crash.

Now she had to protect her family.

She needed to start with the hospital she had gone to do her checkup.

Her records couldn't have shown that she couldn't get pregnant. It had to be someone at the hospital.

The Kim and Choi Family was going to harm the person behind all of this.

It was their retribution.
