Blaire's POV
Monday, unlike any other students, is my favorite day. This is the day when I get to spend most of my free time at the school library. Our class starts at 7 am but my day starts at 4 a.m.
Waking up early is a must because it takes an hour to travel from my house to our university.
Ever since I started schooling until now that I'm already in my senior year, I still prefer that our family driver is the one who will drop me off and pick me up from school. My parents are busy enough with their work but are spending enough time with me during holidays and weekends.
People would also tell me that I should learn how to ride public vehicles but I rejected their suggestion.
To be honest, I don't feel safe using public vehicles because several crimes often happen there. Thieves, perverts, and even kidnappers are freely roaming around the streets of this country.
Most of them can use public vehicles. Which is why I never dared to risk my life just like that.
Anyway, I would like to formally introduce myself. I am Blaire Mason Porter, 19, high school student studying at Caelum university.
I am the type of teenager who likes art. Literary, visual, and performing arts are my interests as well as the kind of talent that I am proud of.
In literary arts, I am at my best when its about poetry. I prefer writing over speaking because whenever I try to speak, my mind says it all but my mouth won't cooperate. This is the reason why every time there is a class debate, I'd always be on the losing team.
On the bright side, having written activities like essays would bring me to the spotlight. Ever since grade school, I participated in different inter-school competitions like journalism.
Talking about performing arts, dancing is something that I can be proud of the most. Whenever I dance, I felt that I was able to express my feelings without a single word. The people that influenced me are mostly foreign artists.
Matt Steffanina is my greatest mentor in YouTube. I studied every choreography he posted.
I also liked Korean boy groups from Big Hit Entertainment. Tomorrow by Together and Bangtan Sonyeondan are my Kings. I am one of their fans who would consider myself as in a relationship with every member.
Aside from their talent in music and dancing, I also loved their personalities. The way they tell us not to skip meals and take care of ourselves moved me. They also made me realize that I wanted to be an artist. I want to write music and dance to its rhythm.
However, that dream of mine is hard to achieve. I only dance and sing when I am alone. I never took a video of myself while dancing or recorded my voice.
BTS and TXT are the reason why I'm trying hard to go after my dreams. They are my inspiration.
Infires men yeah.
In visual arts, I like photography the most. In every tourist spot that I've been before, all of the pictures I took were compiled and posted on my social networking sites. My SNS friends and followers commended me for that.
As I ride our school bus, I plugged my earphones to my cellphone and shuffled the songs in my playlist, which made Taylor Swift's sparks fly play first.
While we are on our way to school, let me give you a short introduction about my country and its people.
Antlia is a small democratic country located in Southeast Asia, close to the equator, and is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons. It has an area of 135,000 square miles with 16 beautiful and historical regions which are; Aquila (farthest in the North), Vela, Auriga, Norma, Lynx, Fornax, Mensa, Caelum (the capital), Lacerta, Carina, Monoceros, Cepheus, Hydra, Lyra, Perseus, and Vulpecula (farthest in the South).
Our country is rich in petroleum, natural gas, and metallic minerals. Aside from that, it is also famous for its tourist spots most especially its beaches that are perfect for an affordable summer getaway.
After an hour and a half, we arrived in front of the University. The University entrance is divided into three. Gate A is meant for those who arrived using private vehicles and school services. Gate B is meant for students while gate C is for employees.
The gates B and C are requiring for the employees' and students' Identification card to serve as their entry passes.
Upon entering, they will pass through a huge scanning machine that automatically detects harmful objects, illegal drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol inside your clothes and bags.
On the other hand, the vehicles that come through gate A are scanned by the security guards accompanied by K9 dogs before they enter the parking lot. The parking lot also has an entrance directed to the main building having the same scanning machine in the other gates.
A few moments later, I finished having myself scanned. I walked straight to the ground floor of the Senior High school building where my first class is located.
In our education system, students should study for at least 15 years before they can get a regular job. At the age of 4, parents can send their children to school.
The first 3 years of studying, kindergarten level, take 3 academic years to finish (Kinder 1, 2, & 3). Next is the grade school which takes 10 academic years. In High school, we only have two academic years, junior and senior high school.
After high school graduation, students are already of their legal age (18). They can choose if they want to start working or continue studying. Those who still want to study can enter college which takes 2-8 academic years to finish depending on their chosen career path.
The academic year is divided into 2. The first half (first semester) starts in January (2nd Monday) and ends in June (2nd Friday). On the other hand, the second half (second semester) starts July (2nd week) and ends in December (2nd week).
All graduation and moving up ceremonies are held 1 week before the Christmas day and farewell parties are usually held 2-3 days after the graduation ceremony.
Today, July 8, 2019, is the first day of the second semester. In this semester, we will be having block sections. It means that in each subject we will have to transfer to different classrooms and have different classmates.
With this, some were a little disappointed because not everyone will be in the same class as their friends while some were excited because they will be able to meet new people.
For introverts like me, I'm not affected at all. Block sections or not, I still won't be able to be friends with anyone.
In my entire life, I never had a true friend but I did have some people to talk to because of a group project and that's it. It's not that I don't want to have friends, It's just that nobody likes the idea of befriending me.
I stopped in front of a door, room SHS101, this is our classroom. Now, I'm only a few months away from my graduation day. Fighting!
