. . .
My lips and hands are literally shaking. I can feel his ragged breathing fanning all over my neck and that electrifying effect whenever his nose tip touches and traces it.
"Please...S-stop..." I stutter and plead as I felt tiny droplets of my tears flowing down my cheeks.
He let go of my arms and I heard the clicking sound of the switch. He turns on the lights and steps backwards. I close my eyes for a second because of the sudden illumination and I was just like a statue standing and still pinned on my position.
"Quinn? Jesus! Are you crying?"
He tries to place his hands on my shoulder but he immediately steps backwards when my body flinches.
"I...was just kidding. I...I'm s-orry. I didn't mean to...oh my god! I'm sorry!"
He's about to grab both of my shoulders again when I stop him from doing so.
"Don't!" I raise my voice, "Please don't touch me. P-please don't c-come near me..."
From tiny droplets of tears, they all come rushing down my cheeks as I remembered something about my past.
The image of that guy who tried to assault me suddenly plays like old reruns in my mind. The mere reason why I decided to go far from home and move in St. Louis. I thought I already forgot and moved on from that incident which almost ruined my entire life but I was wrong.
What had just happened made me remember that exact face —his tattooed arms, the smell of cigarettes on his breath, his merciless evil eyes, and his devious glare.
How could I ever forget that guy who made my life so miserable?
"Quinn, I'm sorry. I did not mean to scare you. I was just pulling up a prank. I didn't know that this will happen. I'm really sorry!" Jabes apologizes while trying his best to control himself from moving towards me.
"Please leave..." I wipe my tears using my hands, turn the knob, and open the door for him.
I did not even make an eye contact with him because I do not know what I will do if our eyes meet.
"If that's what you want. I will leave. I'm so sorry again." his voice is so low and I do not know why I heard sincerity from it.
I should hate him by now. He just pulled up a freaking prank which scared the life out of me and made me remember a nightmare of my past.
Fuck him for doing that!
As soon as he walks pass me and leaves my room, I slam the door close and put my right palm exactly on my pounding chests. My heart's palpitating against it like I had just run a 100-km race. I heave a deep sigh hoping that it will release the heavy feeling but still...I respire heavily. I did not expect that what happened will bring back the nightmare I had been trying to avoid.
I have never been tricked like that! Screw Jabes for doing that to me! He's a bastard!
My body jolts when my phone vibrates. I grab it from my bag and look at the screen. Mom is calling. I sigh and wipe my tears again before I answer.
"H-hello, Mom?"
"Briella, honey! I've been trying to call you since yesterday but I'm always transferred to your voicemail. How are you honey?"
