Chapter 2 ( Getting Ready )
Today is really a very exciting day. The Professor in the University will be announcing which agency or location we are going to do our internship. The study of psychologist is not all on theory. The most important part of it all is our practise. Whatever, we learn in the therapy framework. We will use it in the placement that we were assigned to. This meaning that we will be actually helping people with their challenging issues.
I am really excited today because this is really what I have been waiting for. To be able to use what I have study to help others. My cousin, Zuo Cheng although in the same University but he is studying Finance. Zuo Cheng is three years older than me. My ever ready father has already pounced on Zuo Cheng and he will starts work with my father's company in a few months after his study finishes. Whereas, Wen Han, Bowen and myself are doing psychology and still in our 3rd year.
Thus, we all received our place of internship today. Bowen and Wen Han are happy because both of them will be doing their internship in a Single Father centre where they helped Fathers who had been or recently Single due to marriage failure or recently widowed. This is the only organisation providing support for Single Father facing challenging issue. I have been selected to have my internship in the Jiangmeng College.
Jiangmeng College is a well-known College in Beijing. In fact, the college is so famous that, most of the students there are either children of some big shot politician or their parent are from well to do family. However, due to my grandma influence, my parent sent me or rather have no choice but to send me to a normal College. My grandma felt that this would further develop my character rather than going to a privilege college.
"How do you feel about practising your internship in a Single Father Agency?" I asked both Bowen and Wen Han
"Man, I am seriously nervous, imagine talking to people that have more experience than me" Bowen seems to be in a ball of stress.
"Remembered, our theory, open your heart and listen to them." I reminded Bowen
"Yes, I know, but still nervous, you know, first timer" Bowen smile slightly
"We can help each other and have discussion as we are in the same Agency" Wen Han added.
This seems to relief some anxiety from Bowen. As he smile and swing his arm over Weh Han shoulder.
"How about you Zan, you will be practicing in a College" Wen Han asks me.
"I think I will enjoy it though, teenager these days are multi-talented" I smile
"Sure, Sure, I think it will suit you fine, after all, you are the only one that is nineteen years old going to be twenty in a few month. While all of us here are above twenty already". Bowen teased me.
"Oh man, look at his youngish look, I think he may even look younger than some of the College kids" Again Bowen teased me.
"Hey, hey, enough. I am much older than them, ok" I knew I can't win them because I really look young, many times I am mistaken as a College student because of my bunny teeth and smile. Also, I have a slim frame and fair skin which looks much like a College kid.
"Just don't break any hearts there with your look. You are suppose to mend their hearts and not break them. Who knows, with your cute look, many will fall for you, hahahaha" Bowen laughs non-stop joined in by Wen Han.
"I will kick your ass, both you both starts your internship tomorrow" I chase after them and three of us were running wild in the campus ground like a bunch of carefree students.
Then, they heard the horn of the car,
"Zan, your driver is here. Enjoy your internship at Jiangmeng College, Jiayou" Both of my bestie wish me luck.
Before I slip into the car, I wind down the window and returned the gesture
"Hey, you both silly ass, JIAYOU". Then I quickly wind up the window and pester my driver to leave.
"Quick, Yan, step on it, or they will kill me", My driver has been working in our family for more than ten years. He just chuckled, and smile and even wave at my besties before he step and drive the car away.
Sitting in the back of the car, I had a moment of silent and wonder how will my world be as an intern, tomorrow when I step into the Jiangmeng College.......
