Jack and I decide on a BBQ as the best way to announce our news. We invite our small group over for the next night, making sure it's clear that Mason is not invited.

Jack picks up everything from the store that we will need to make grilled chicken and veggies. While he is at the store, I finish cleaning up the disaster that is our house. Solo cups and chip bags were stuffed in practically every crevice. Sand had been tracked in, cans float in the hot tub, condom wrappers in the bathroom, broken glass on the porch.

It really wasn't too bad to clean up once I decided everything was garbage. I was more grateful than ever that we had decided to lock our bedroom doors before people started arriving.

When Jack got back from the store, I helped him put away the groceries. I asked if I could help with tonight's dinner but he just poured me a glass of wine and sent me into the living room. I found my book from earlier this afternoon and started up where I had left off.

Shortly after, Jack joined me in the living room carrying 2 dinner sized salads, the opened bottle of wine and an empty wine glass. He set everything down carefully down on the coffee table like he waited tables as a profession.

"This looks great. Thank you." I cheers my glass against his after he tops it off for me.

"No Problem. We had plenty of veggies in the fridge so I figured we could eat a little lighter tonight."

"Sounds perfect." We spend our time eating dinner chatting about our plans for the next spot, where were going to stay, and the things we could do there.

"Is there anything you want to do before we leave here?"

"I was hoping to see the Griffith Observatory. I think the one thing I miss from home is being able to see a clear night's sky."

"Yeah, the only advantage Colorado has over California. Why don't we go the day after tomorrow? We can wait until it's dark and everything and get the full experience."

"Sounds like date." I smile and eat a forkful of salad, smiling cheekily at him.

After we finished dinner, Jack had put on Netflix and we watched episode after episode while we finished off our bottle of wine. When it was gone, he brought out another.

"Are you trying to get me drunk?" I tease as he refills my glass. It makes him smile and I feel like I've accomplished something.

"Just finishing off our stash. I left the beer and wine coolers in the fridge figuring we would drink them tomorrow night. Besides, it kind of feels grown up. Drinking wine, making dinner, relaxing on the couch. Don't you think?"

"How domestic of you." I tease, but he had a point. I felt like an adult even though I was definitely too young to be drinking and didn't make this dinner in the slightest. "Thank you again for dinner."

"No problem." He stood and clears our plates, taking them to the kitchen. "I'm going to run to the bathroom." When I paused the show for him, he said, "Oh, don't worry about it. I've seen this episode a million times. I'll be quick."

As he went up the stairs, he squeezed my shoulder. A few minutes later he was back down, and we continue watching together in silence, sipping our wine. I wasn't paying too much attention though. Not with Jack's fingers curling around strands of my hair and then releasing them. Only to do it all over again.

After three more episodes, we had decided to call it a night and head to bed.

"You're place or mine?" I ask with a devious smile, wrapping my arms around his neck and looking up at him. I was hoping we could get a repeat of last night, minus the physical fight and terrible ending.
