"Rise and shine sleeping beauty! It's time to carpe the diem!"
"Five more minutes..." I grumbled and turned over in my cloud like bed.
"Nope, get up or I will give you a reason to stay in that bed all day."
"Jack, please." I whined. "I'm so- OHMYGOD!" I jumped out of bed and landed on the floor with a thump. "Why are you naked again!?" I called from the floor where I rubbed my butt soothingly.
"Still not naked but I made you think I was. So, I consider that a win." He grinned down at me from the bed. I scowled and got up.
"You know I don't like you like that right?"
"Of course."
"Then why do you keep doing it?"
"Does it bug you?"
"Yes!"
"That's why."
"I'm already showered and ready to go. So, while you do your thing, I will go find us some coffee."
I agreed, only because coffee was promised, and trudged into the bathroom. Surely the warm water in the shower will put me back to sleep. I turned the faucet and waited for the water to heat up. After I undressed and got in it was like a warm blanket being wrapped around me and luring me back into sleep. I fought to keep my eyes open but quickly lost the battle letting the hot spray pelt my body.
Nothing is as satisfying as a shower in the morning. Well, except for more sleep or a good cup of coffee. Ok, and maybe scrubbing 24 hours of road trip out of my skin.
I hurried to do everything I need to get done and got out. Just as I turned the shower off, I heard our room door slam shut. Jack must be back already. I needed his help on the first day's outfit. Before drying my hair or putting on my makeup, I poked half of my body out of the bathroom door. Jack was sitting on the edge of the bed flipping through channels on the TV.
"Hey Jack?"
His head whipped around at the sound of my voice. I watched as his eyes scanned over my body, his pupils dilating as they got lower. I cleared my throat and his ice colored eyes met mine. My sarcastic comment was lost in my throat when we made eye contact.
Now, let me repeat myself. Just so I can make sure we are all on the same page.
I, Madeline Parker, am not in any way attracted to Jack Abraham.
But when a boy looks at you like he is looking at me right now. Like you are the prey and he is the predator, like you are the sex and he is the addict, like you are the goddess and he is a mere mortal just begging to have you... It does things to your body.
Not permanent things though. I snapped out of the hold he had over me and shook my head to clear my thoughts.
"Now who's the naked one?" He asked in a husky voice, his eyes still glazed with lust. It made my insides squeeze.
"I know your raging teenage hormones are trying to take over your tiny boy brain but could you stop looking at me like that for just one second?"
He smiled a sweet smile and looked down at the remote he was flipping through his hands. "Sure. What can I do for you Miss Madeline?"
"My bag is right there can you find me an outfit for the day? You know better than I do what to wear. If it were up to me, I would put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt."
"What's wrong with jeans and t-shirt?"
"The whole point of this trip is to stop being myself. I want to be one of those girls that everyone wants to talk to and get to know. Not that girl that sits in the back of every class and no one knows her name."
