06 | "let's pair up"

chuuya's car halted infront of the school, atsushi and akutagawa getting off. the teenage boys waved goodbye to the pair inside the car. chuuya didn't care about them while dazai cheerfully waved back with a huge grin, "study hard, you two. atsushi don't sleep in class. akutagawa, you protect atsushi from the bullies like you did yesterday, okay?" he sternly said like a whole ass father, pointing his finger at the two.

the ginger sighed just by listening to the brunette that kept on going about the do's and dont's. "shut up already! are you their father or something?" he grumbled. dazai chuckled, "okay, okay, i'll stop. have fun, kids!" and with that, chuuya's car zoomed away. this made atsushi and akutagawa's hair messy.

sighing, the smaller boy turned to the other, "sorry about that. dazai-san could be a little immature sometimes," he laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head. akutagawa slightly smiled, beginning to walk inside. atsushi followed him.

they walked side by side, getting stares from the students in the halls. they never saw the cool akutagawa with the weird eyed kid before. it unpleased them. atsushi heard the whispers and felt the looks of people around them. he figured out that it was because he's walking with akutagawa, who's popular around here because of his skills in basketball and many more.

his alive eyes turned gloomy. putting his hood over his head, atsushi slowed his pace. akutagawa noticed this, looking behind to see the light gray haired male walking behind him. this made him frown, seeing that he wore his hood on.

"atsushi," said name heard someone whispered, footsteps walking beside him. it took him by surprise when this person removed his hood. looking at akutagawa, who surprisingly did that, nakajima fainlty blushed. ryuu smiled reassuringly, "don't listen to them, yeah?" he whispered again.

his voice is so soft.

so calming..

slowly nodding his head, atsushi decided to tease him. he smirked, "i've noticed you've been smiling alot today, akutagawa-san." he commented with a small chuckle. the dark haired male softly scoffed, "i noticed that too."

it's because of you, idiot.

--- in class ;

atsushi was in the middle of art class. he was burying his face inside his arms that are placed atop his desk. the muffled voice of their teacher up front filled his pale ears, however he dosen't know what he's saying. atsushi didn't get enough sleep last night again because of his insomnia.

rustles of desks caught the boy's attention. peeking up from his arms to see, students were going around the classroom. nakajima arched an eyebrow, confused on what's going on. he sat up, rubbing his eyes gently.

maybe some activity?

"hey, tanizaki! let's be partners!" he heard kenji behind him called out. that made him understand what was going on. "i see.. pairing for an activity, huh?" he muttered to himself, slightly shrugging his shoulders. "no one's gonna partner up with me anyways, so might as well just take a nap-"

"hey, atsushi," a voice prevented him from burying his face inside his arms again. he blinked, staring at akutagawa's figure standing infront of his desk. ".. akutagawa? what're you-"

"let's pair up." he bluntly spoke.

"what?! why with me?!" surprised, the shorter male stood up from his seat, palms flatly placed on his desk.

"i just thought it would be easier for the both of us since we're neighbours after all," clamly, he explained. atsushi relaxed his shoulders after hearing this. he looked at the ground. akutagawa made a point about that and he dosen't mind being partners with him as well. plus, this is the first time he got asked.

nakajima looked back at ryuu, rubbing the back of his neck, "sure, but... what's the activity again?" he awkwardly laughed.

akutagawa halfly smiled, stuffing his hands inside the pockets of his trousers.

he's so adorable.

ps. naiomi and junichirou in this story
are going act like normal siblings. unlike
in the anime, they make me hella uncomfortable like damn these guys
call themselves siblings?! so yeah.

pps. in some chapters mr. soft boy for
atsushi wouldn't be all soft. for example,
the one ahead. since i thought it's tooooo
ooc, i'm only making aku soft when he's
with atsushi. yes yes, we love the mood
