"Hela, are you all ready to go?" Pepper called up the stairs. I stepped out of my room, my pack slung over my shoulder, and took a deep breath.
"Coming!" I yelled, sliding down the banister and landing with a thud at the foot of the stairs.
"Cmon then," Tony said, ruffling my hair before turning to Pepper. "Get in the car Hels." He opened the door to a bright red sports car, and I slid into the passengers seat, bouncing up and down with excitement.
After all, it wasn't everyday I got to visit SHIELD while Pepper and Tony had a date night.

SHIELD HQ was only a short jet ride away. It was a large building with hundreds of underground levels in the middle of nowhere.
Phil was waiting for me when we arrived that afternoon. I hugged Phil hello, hugged Tony goodbye, then skipped inside of the gigantic base ahead of the SHIELD agent. This base was unlike any of the others I had ever been in. There were less offices, more security, and comprised mostly of labs. I wasn't in this for the sight-seeing, however, I was spending 48 hours at HQ with Fury, Coulson, Dr Selvig, and Clint. And I couldn't have been happier.
Phil led me down several long staircases and into a large room, equipt with technology fit for Tony Stark, and a pulsating blue stone to monitor. However, I wasn't interested with the lab equipment and the tesseract so much as the SHIELD agent on duty to watch it -- Clint. The second I rounded the corner and spied his blonde hair from a viewing platform, I ran full speed towards the rope he was sliding down.
"Clint!"
He scooped me up and swung me around in circles. His eyes looked suspiciously wet, as did mine. "I missed you, Kiddo." He said, playfully messing up my hair. I grinned and giggled, to happy to say anything else.
That was, until the tesseract started acting up.
