Welcome to chapter 3!

I've hide a quote out of the anime in this chapter because I really like some of them and especially their meanings. Either from opening or charakters or skating songs.

Maybe you will find it?!

It was two days after I decided I would give my dream a new chance. Nervously I was sitting in the car of my grandpa driving to the hospital.  A few moments later I was waiting for the doc to come into the room I was currently sitting in. My head snaps up when I hear the door slide open. The middle aged man smiles at me and I force myself to smile back. After all I know him already for over 6 years.

„Hello Yuri. I'm glad to see you again. When I saw your fall a few weeks ago I was really worried."

I look down to the ground. "Yeah. I should have come here earlier, but well I wasn't in the mood."

He sits down onto his movable chair and turns around to me. "That's ok. I can imagine that it wasn't easy to cope with that situation. Now! Let's check your height and your vitals.", he smiles and I undergo the same procedure like all the other times when I came for check ups.

After he scribbles down some notes onto his clipboard he looks up at me. "Everything looks fine. It will take some days to get everything prepared. I will call your grandpa when it's ready."

"Okay. Sounds good."

"I hope you will be able to reach your goal. I'll support you. And don't hesitate to ask for help, young man!"

"Yeah, I'll try. Thank you.", I take my crutches, go out and back to my grandpa waiting for me.

When we're back home I'm confronted with the next challenge towards my dream.

I need to tell Yuuri and Victor.

I fall backwards onto my bed and stare at the white ceiling above me. To my big surprise I wasn't drowned by sadness and anger but filled with hope and joy. I was looking forward to stepping out onto the ice again.

I close my eyes and tell myself that my dreams will come true. I take a deep breath before I open my eyes again and sit up and pull the small drawer of my nightstand open. Inside lies my cellphone. I haven't touched it once since that accident. It is turned off, it's black screen looking back at me.

I take it out of the drawer and push the power button for a few seconds. I watch the screen come to life and feel overwhelmed when I see all the messages and missed calls. My fingers tremble slightly when I open my contacts and scroll down until my eyes catch Katsudons name. For a little while my finger hestitatingly hoovers over the call sign before I finally press down on it, lift it to my ear and wait for the dialtone.

It rings for a few seconds. I fight back the urge to end the call.

"Yuri! Is that you?!"

I gasp quietly when I hear his voice.

"Yuri? Hello? Are you there?"

I couldn't get myself to answer. My voice was gone. I gulped heavily.

"Yes."

"Really? I'm glad you finally called back. We were so worried when you fell. And we weren't allowed to visit you in the hospital. Then you disappeared without a word. I tried to call you, and Victor called your grandpa, but he wouldn't tell us any-"

"Stop!", I interrupt his ramblings.

"Yuri?"

"I need to talk to you two. Could you get Victor? I don't think I will be able to say it twice."

"Ah..sure. Give me a second."

I hear him call for Victor.

"Yura! Your grandpa ignored all my calls! I was looking for a flight to russia already! How is my little kitten?"

"I'm fine. Well mostly. But I got something I really need to tell you."

There is a awkward silence I wasn't used to. Both of those idiots were never quiet. Nervously I start to form the sentences that has been going through my head for the last few days.

"First of I'm sorry for not calling for so lang.", I start. "Second I'm sorry for lying at you for the past years."

"Lyin-"

"Let him talk.", Yuuri interrupts Victor. "Go on, Yuri."

I'm surprised how calm and collected Yuuri sounds. I was prepared for him to freak out or get a heart attack or something.

"I don't know how to say it... it's kinda complicated but part of the reason I collapsed at the last competition was because I have a handicap that makes everything a lot harder for me."

Again I stop and silently curse at myself.

"Yuri. You don't need to tell us, if it is difficult for you.", Yuuri says and Victor supports him. "Yeah. We just want you to come back and train with us again."

"Come back to Japan and we can talk about everything that is bothering you from face to face. I'm sure we will find a good solution and get you back on the ice no matter what!"

"Are you really sure?"

"Is that hesitation?! Impossible! The great Yuri is doubting himself?"

"Shut up Victor! I'm not!"

"Finally!I was already wondering if the hit to your head has teached you politeness!", Victor laughs.

"It didn't!", I call back and realize that the tension in my body was slowly fading. Those idiots. They were trying to cheer me up and I fell into their trap.

"You two are just stupid, you do know that? Old, stupid, annoying, lovebird idiots!"

"Hey, we're not that old!", Victor exclaims, slightly hurt by the comment on his age.

I laugh quietly. It feels good to talk to them after such a long time. After all they were like brothers to me. Even thought I would never say that out lound.

"If it's okay I will book a flight to Japan in one week?"

"That is wonderful!"

"Send us your date and we will come and get you from the airport.", Yuuri offers.

"I will."

"It was good to hear from you.", Yuuri says and I can imagine him smiling behind his glasses.

"Yeah, it was good to here your voices to."

"Take care of yourself, Yura!"

"Sure."

"Bye."

"See ya!"

We end the call and I fall back onto my bed. Somehow I felt relived that I called them and apologized, but somehow I was frustrated that I couldn't tell them. I didn't have the courage to tell them the most important info. Well, whatever, it will probably be easier to show them, anyway.
