Scooby-Doo premiers in 1969 where 4 teens with completely different personalities are put together and travel the world unsolving mysteries. But how did the 4 teens come together? What if they're hiding something themselves and trying to cover it up? The theory that the Vietnam war is at it's peek and the four kids are trying to avoid being drafted into the war therefore setting off to Canada for a new life.

Fred is our suburban clean life kid who lives his life the way his parents wanted, well dressed, well behaved, and never make any bad decisions. Thinking that his life seems perfect why would he decide to flee? The only explanation is that his draft number was picked and he refused to die in the war.

Velma is our classic antiwar protester during the Vietnam war who means no harm but will stand up for what she believes in. She'll continue to evolve her protests with more people trying to get her point across the world but she quickly starts to see her protests turn violent. Velma learns about a group of kids who are fleeing the country to avoid being drafted and feels that is her best bet. She also feels safe with the group considering Fred is fleeing from having to go to war and that is what she opposes in.

Daphne is Fred's girlfriend and decides to leave with him because she cannot stand the idea of letting him go. She made a promise to him years ago that she will always stand by his side no mater what so she is keeping that promise even if it means fleeing the country.

Shaggy is the town's hippie who's always talking about inner peace and equality for all and by him is his great dane, Scooby. Shaggy's decision to move around the world isn't questioned because this what most hippies do. He's always snacking and talking about uncovering the world's biggest mystery and that leads us to why he named the van The Mystery Machine.
