Chapter 9

[Modern Sonic Boom]
{Tails' P.O.V.}
I stayed awake all night as I worked on my portal. I could feel my eyes burn from looking at my screen for so many hours, but I didn't care. 

It's not the first time this has happened to me, to stay up all night in from of my computer. 

Sonic was asleep on my bed, since I didn't have a guest room because I had filled all the free rooms that my house has with gadgets and inventions, so I was alone in a silent room.

I hate silence. I hate everything about it. 

Usually I call Sonic or Knuckles when I'm alone or listen to music so the time can fly by faster, but I didn't feel safe to listen to music in the middle of the night, while Sonic is asleep in the house and has no idea where he is. 

So I tried to focus more on the portal than my surroundings, but it was getting more and more difficult as time went on.

My eyes started slowly closing on their own and losing focus, my hands started hurting from typing so much, and I felt like what I was typing didn't make sense... But I didn't want to sleep, I was afraid that I'd forget everything by the time I woke up. 

I know that I need sleep to function better... But I just can't sleep yet... I have to get Sonic back... 

He always tries his get whenever I'm in danger, he always ignores the risks that he faces and always tells me how he doesn't regret it.

Well, now it's time for me to do the same!

I just... Have to... Stay...

Awake...

{Sonic's P.O.V.}
I woke up the next morning, the house was silent and dark, even though the clock showed that it was almost afternoon. 

Weird... 

Didn't Tails wake up yet? 

I stood up and walked around the house as I looked for him, trying not to get worried since he wasn't making a sound. 

When I walked in his lab, I saw him sleeping as he rested his head on the keyboard, he looked exhausted with his dark circles under his eyes as he lightly snored, his ear twitching every now and then whenever it touched the computer screen. 

"Buddy?" I said lowly and lightly shook him to wake him up. "Hey, Tails. Wake up."

He groaned softly and turned his face to the other side as he slowly woke up. He stayed quiet for a bit as he looked around then gasped and quickly sat up when he glanced at the time. "No...! I fell asleep...!" He rubbed his face and looked at his screen, it was filled with the same letters and numbers, probably because he was resting his head on the keyboard. "Oh no..."

"What happened? How long where you awake?" I asked concerned. "When did you fall asleep?"

"I don't know... I was too tired to check the time..." He mumbled lowly and dropped his ears as he started deleting what his face had typed while he was asleep. "I hope I remember everything..."

"Of course you do! You made this thing, you'll remember everything eventually." I rubbed his back and sat beside him. 

"Still... It won't be the same... No matter how many things I remember... It just won't be the same...!" He groaned and raised his voice slightly, he was getting mad at himself. This isn't good.

"Tails, calm down. Everythi-" I tried to calm him down, but he cut me off with a growl.

"No it won't! And you know it!" He glared at me as he slammed his fist on the desk. "I won't see Sonic ever again...! He's gone! He'll never come back!" He started shouting with tears in his eyes. 

{Shadow's P.O.V.}
I walked in Miles's house, to check on him and see how far he's gone. 

I couldn't sleep the previous night, to avoid any stupid nightmares that my mind, that absolutely hates me, will create to make my life hell. 

I heard Miles groan and talk to someone, probably Sonic, but I couldn't listen to what they were saying from the noise that the computer made from overheating and since the door was closed. I was about to open the door when Miles started shouting. 

"No it won't! And you know it! I won't see Sonic ever again...! He's gone! He'll never come back!"

"What...?" I pinned my ears down when I heard that. What did he mean by that? 

I started panicking and growling then opened the door and glared at them. "What?!" 

"Sh-Shadow...?" He pinned his ears down and quickly sat up. "N-no...! It's not what-"

"It is what it sounds like! What do you mean you won't see him again?!" I walked closer to him but Sonic stood up and got between us. 

"Woah! Shaz! Calm dow-"

"Don't you ever call me that again!" I glared at him too as I tried not to cry. 

My Sonic will come back.

I don't care what I have to do to get him back, but whatever it is I'll do it.

"Shadow...! Please... Calm down... I'll bring him back, we'll see him soon, I promise..." Miles said with his ears lowered. "Don't make more difficult than it already is..."

"You better bring him back! You don't understand how much I'm-" I stopped before I finished the sentence and rubbed my face as I tried to calm down. "Call me if you find anything..." I said lowly and chaos controlled to my house as I let a few tears out. 

Sonic...

I hope you're fine...

[Sonic Boom Universe]
{Sonic's P.O.V.}
"Ah!" I shouted in pain when Shadow grabbed my neck and held me up on the wall. I grabbed his hand and tried to push him away as I gasped for air. "L-let... Go...!"

"Who are you?! Who are you really?!" He just growled loudly at my question. 

"I-I'm Sonic... I already tol-" He cut me off with a rough punch. 

"You're not him! You don't look like him! And you don't fight like him either!" 

"I-I'm f-from... A... D-different-t..." I started talking lowly as my eyesight got blurry from the lack of oxygen. 

"Speak up!" Shadow growled furiously and hit me on the stomach with his knee. 

"AH! I'm from a different dimension! Let go!" I shouted with all my strength I had left. "H-HELP...!" 

I could hear someone shout my name from the distance and tried to stay awake, but Shadow punched me roughly one more time. 

And I blanked out.
