In the morning we said goodbye to our friends and left. We arrived at our house and did school. It finally clicked in my head why he might be off. I decided to spend more time with him today. My mom agreed to my idea and we started to head out.
"WheRe aRe We gOiNg?" Igloo glitched. "You'll see!" I said excitedly. Starburst decided he wanted to stay home with mom and help Mom with dinner. He was an amazing cook! I need to remember to ask him where he learned such amazing skills. We got out of the house and I headed over to my bike. "WhAt iS tHiS?" Igloo said. "It's a bike! We are going to ride on it! Pick a spot and we'll get going!" I said happily. He decided to sit in the basket, because he was still scared of touching me. He wrapped his string around himself and the basket to stay safe and secure. "ArE yOu sURe StarbursT cAn't coMe?" Igloo asked nervously. "He wanted to stay home and help Mom with dinner remember? We can spend time this way together!" I said reassuringly. "OkAy," Igloo said still unconvinced. I started peddling fast down our street to the indoor ice rink that was a little while from our house. They were currently doing a 2 hour free skate there. Once we got there Igloo hung from my shoulder with a string. He started drifting away from his core trait and was starting to get really curious. I rented a pair of bitty skates and I walked with Igloo into the rink.
"WhaT aRE tHeSe!? ThErE aRe kNivEs oN tHe boTtom oF tHesE sHoEs!" Igloo said shocked. "It's okay Igloo! They are called blades and you use them to move around on the ice! These are figure skates, so the little pokey thing on the front of the blade is called a toe pick! You use it to do tricks. I wanted to teach you how to skate, since I've been doing it for several years," I said kindly. Igloo looked baffled, but let me put on his skates. I put on my skates from my skate bag and put on the guards. The rink was bitty friendly and there was a mini rink for bitties aswell. I wanted to teach Igloo myself though, and not let him worry about the other bitties. "Okay before we get on the ice I need to go over some things with you. Balance is key, and once you learn how to skate fairly fast, I can teach you some tricks if you would like. I know you don't want to grab onto me for support, so you can use your strings to wrap around me if necessary. Okay?" I said. "OkaY," Igloo said.
I stepped onto the ice with my skates and waited for Igloo to step on. He proceeded to do so and immediately started swaying from side to side. He caught himself with his strings and started slowly moving across the ice. "This is ice! It's what Igloos are made of!" I said. "WoW!" Igloo called.
We took it slow and after an hour of practicing, Igloo could zoom around the rink fairly fast. "Hey Igloo! Do you want to see some of the tricks I can do?" I asked. "SuRe," Igloo said. "Okay, I will do some then!" I said excitedly. I started doing a one foot spin and got 6 revolutions. I did some half flips and half lutzes. I then did the biggest waltz jump that I could muster. I went back to Igloo to see what he thought of the tricks. "THat wAs So CoOl! I wAnT tO leaRn tHat To!" He said with star eyelights. "Hahaha! Of course Igloo! We will start with the basics, but eventually I'm sure you can pass my level!" I laughed happily. I started teaching him how to do one foot glides and kangaroo hops. He was a natural at it! "In the fall when lessons start back here, you have to enroll!!" I said happily. "I Don'T kNow aBoUt tHat," he said unsure of himself. "Don't worry! I always take lessons here when they're available, so I would be right next door to the bitty rink!" I said. "I gUesS I cOuLd trY..." Igloo mumbled. "That's the spirit! I'm sure you'll be great at it! If you don't like it you don't have to do it," I said. "OkAy," he said. Then the zamboni beeped at everyone and we started to get off the ice. "THat wAs fuN," Igloo stated. "Yeah it was! We will have to do that another time!" I said. We headed out of the rink and got on my bike. "WherE aRe we gOinG nOw?" Igloo asked. "You'll see," I said. We rode back to the house and got into the car. Mom and Starburst got into the car and Igloo latched onto Starburst. Igloo was looking a worried about where they were going and no one would tell him. He fell asleep next to Starburst and then Starburst also fell asleep. I snapped a picture of the two smol beans with my phone. We arrived at a bitty doctor and I woke up the bitties. Igloo cautiously walked in with us. We went to the eye care department, and he got a series of tests with his eyes. He was really scared but we reassured him. Finally he went and picked out some prescription glasses. They were an Icy blue color with small white spots. He turned out to be far-sighted. We headed home and went to sleep. Igloo seemed happier that his broken eyesocket had a cool accessory, and just more happy in general.
For the first time he didn't have a nightmare that night.
