We all know this, but can I just ask a question?

Does it really matter?

I mean, I'm biologically female, but I've never had trouble with writing males. Of course I've always had trouble with portraying male problems like toxic masculinity and all, but I've never actually had an issue with writing a boy.

Because it's just a character. You can have a shy boy, a strong boy, a sad boy, a happy boy. Just like we have girls vice versa.

So...how exactly just gender play into writing a good character?

I'm not being mean or angry or a spEcIAL sNoWfLAKE, I'm just genuinely confused. Whenever we criticize kishimoto we always end it with "well kishi can't write female characters so", but i always wondered, how can you write a male character but not a female character? A character's a character. He could've made the most manly–est of women if he wanted to, but he didn't.

I've never seen a gender difference in my character (except in body shape). I've never thought "well she's a girl so she should.." I've always just genuinely focused on WHO THEY ARE as people.

Can someone please explain? I've been thinking about this for a while.
