What I crave from you is plentiful nourishment
My belly emptied of your elements
Swollen with only the bleakest of waters
Current churning with the sound of your laments
The basin's contents have risen to chin level
Where is the presence of your amends?
Was your time with her worth your while?
There is no rescue when this water only ascends
Crusted lips dried of taste
Solemn eyes dimmed of light
My limbs shudder without haste
As my body drifts to the bottom tonight
Your hands cannot find me amidst this current
Because the black has already enveloped my being
You realize that you were too late to salvage it
Unaware that at the bottom I am still breathing
