Chapter 5:
Brackenpaw was in some unknown but beautiful forest. A caramel-pelted she-cat with stars in her pelt appeared as she purred to Brackenpaw softly, "There will be three, the tawny jay who brings bracken by the wings and will protect the clans from an old enemy. But the path is long and tough, and three may dwindle to none... Do not be distracted by cats of other clans, my dear Bracken..."
"But, why can't I like Specklepaw?" she murmured.
Brackenpaw couldn't stop thinking of Specklepaw. The way his brown eyes shimmered, the way his golden tabby body held itself in its magnificence.
And how he loved her.
"Just be strong and take the right path..."
She awoke at the sight of sunrise and noticed Specklepaw waking up as well. "Hey Specklepaw, I see you're awake." The caramel she-cat had been forgotten completely.
"You don't say, Brackenpaw. I sure had a good night yesterday. You?" his amber eyes looked into her similarly coloured ones. "Me too, wanna do it again tonight?" she nudged him gently. What did I just do again? I can't break the warrior code so many time- her thoughts were distracted by Specklepaw's answer.
"Of course."
And with that, he leapt down and went back to his own clan territory. Brackenpaw looked at his disappearing self longingly.
I'd better get back to camp before someone notices I had been out of camp all night! She thought suddenly.
She hurriedly went in search of prey where she managed to catch a mouse and hurried back to camp, where she saw Jaypaw.
"Where have you been Brackenpaw?" her brother asked worriedly as she came out with the excuse she had come out with earlier.
"I was out hunting early. I woke up early after all," she mewed as she smiled at Jaypaw, "I'm okay really."
"If you say so," Jaypaw said as he saw Brackenpaw drop off her prey into the fresh food pile and walk off with Tinylight as her mentor called for her.
Tawnypaw padded to her brother as they both looked at Brackenpaw.
"She wasn't in her nest all night last night," Tawnypaw mewed to Jaypaw as he nodded. "Yeah, I know."
"Could she be hiding something from us?" Tawnypaw asked Jaypaw as he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. But even if she does, I hope she'll tell us soon enough."
Tawnypaw looked down at her paws. What if she really was hiding something from them?
"Tawnypaw!" Whitefall appeared, "We're going for some battle moves training with Tigerheart and Jaypaw!"
"Jaypaw!" Tigerheart appeared at the same time, "We're going for some battle moves training with Whitefall and Tawypaw!"
Jaypaw and Tawnypaw smiled slightly as they followed their mentors to the training hollow. Brackenpaw could wait.

Rainstar. That was what every cat ought be calling him. As the supreme leader of the whole forest. But no, they shamed him as Rainstorm, a foolish and humiliated cat who was stopped by a mere rogue-warrior who did not deserve to win.
That Fuzzypelt. Who did she think she was? The most praised and respected cat now that she prevented Rainstorm from destroying the clans? Well, all she did was be in the way of his quest for power.
And he will get his revenge. Fuzzypelt will not do so well off soon enough. She did not deserve her deputy title. She didn't even have an apprentice yet!
She was the one. The one who left him in this dark forest. Or as StarClan dubbed it, Place of No Stars.
It was a shadowy forest with lots of tall, dank, gray trees. The air was cold, thick, foggy and damp and it had an echoing silence.
Above him was a black and starless sky, and the trees are so tall, he couldn't see anything above him, allowing no light whatsoever to reach any cat below.
Mist wreathes the thick, sticky, bare forest floor. It has a sluggish river, its waters dark and lifeless with no stepping stones or fallen trees to be used to cross it, and around the river is sucking mud. Fungus sickly glows on trees, and there is no grass.
This was the place where cats who committed great misdeeds were banished to. Where cats walked in solitude. Forever.
And it was all because of that she-cat.
But of course, there were other cats present in the Place of No Stars.
"Viperfang," he greeted the tom who had appeared in front of him. "Rainstorm," Viperfang nodded in acknowledgement.
Another cat appeared. This time, it was a light brown she-cat. "Applefall," Rainstorm greeted as she smirked. "Rainstorm."
"So, fellow cats, what is this meeting for?" a flat-faced tabby tom appeared. "Mapleclaw, you came." Rainstorm mewed.
"Well, cats. You all know why we're here. Those heartless and ungrateful cats who banished us here! StarClan and those Clancats! I mean, all we wanted was a little power!" Rainstorm stated as they nodded in agreement.
"Now that we are stuck here, there's no way of getting revenge. Unless..." Mapleclaw growled, "We get living cats to help us."
"And how do we do that?" Viperfang muttered.
"We can walk into their dreams," Applefall purred, "but do we invite clancats or rogues and kittypets?"
"Non-clancats," Rainstorm answered, "the clancats have no reason to join anyway."
"And what makes you so sure you'll actually win this time?" a handsome russet tom appeared out of nowhere.
"You..."
