Chapter 20: The War begins (Part 2)

Chapter 20:

"Fuzzypelt! Let's destroy these wretched cats!" Lightstar yowled to the she-cat as he pounced at an attacker. The StarClan cat grabbed a rogue by his neck and simply tossed him away.

Fuzzypelt felt hope stir within her chest as she grabbed the nearest TortureClan cat and pinned her to the ground. She slashed her cheek and raked her flank, before kicking the stinking cat away.

"Great job Fuzzypelt," Miststar mewed beside her. "You really are the one who can save us." Fuzzypelt shook her head. "No, the Clans will save all of us. United."

With that, a Dark Forest cat lunged at her. She ripped her claws across his cheek. The tom snapped at her legs, but she evaded quickly, thrusting him upwards, and sending him flying. Fuzzypelt then continued looking for cats to battle. Was this really how it would go down?

She could see the StarClan cats battling with all they could, alongside the cats of the Clans. Fishfin was attacking with all her might, but the tom of TortureClan was too good.

Fast as a bird, his paw flew out and slashed into the deputy's chest. Blood gushed out from the wound and dripped onto the cold floor. Fishfin stared in half shock and half agony, before collapsing, her legs buckled. Her head thumped onto the ground, and her once amber and bright eyes rolled, turning dull.

"Fishfin!" anguished cries from the Clan echoed as the battle only continued to rage. I have to avenge her, Fuzzypelt thought. Without thinking, she pounced.

Potatoehead (finally... an appearance ;D) hissed as he leaped at her. She felt the thud of muscle against her chest, and dug her hind claws deep into the ground and reared up to swipe at the potato-coloured tom. But he avoided easily, as though he knew all her moves. Doubt pricked her for a heartbeat before she batted it away and continued to attack. She hurled herself at him, twisting and hooking a claw on his foreleg.

He sneered as he lunged for her throat. She dodged in time, flinching at the near miss. She stood on her hind legs ready to slam him, but he was too quick. He thrust his paws into her belly, and the impact sent her stumbling backwards. Claws grabbed her suddenly and tightened at her throat. Trying unsuccessfully to struggle free, she thrashed and fought, trying to slip away. Potatoehead lifted his paw and flexed her claws at her neck. "It's a pity you had to die now, you lousy rogue-warrior." His lips drawn back to reveal blood-stained teeth.

"No... I won't!" Energy surged through her pelt as she exploded free, to his shock. Taking advantage of the Dark Forest cat's shock, she sunk her teeth deep into his throat until he fell limp. She let go and saw the body of the cat fade away into nothing. "I will never die peacefully until you snake-hearted fleabags are all gone," she spat to no one in particular.

Gazes fixed onto her as she called to her clanmates, "Sandtail, Tawnyheart and Tinylight, let's go back!" The white she-cat she knew to well passed by her as she whispered softly, "Thank you. Fishfin will be happy in StarClan."

"No cat ever wants to die."

Jaywing followed Spottedfeather, Hawkflight and Wildfur into the clearing where the AirClan camp was. Shrieking cats filled the whole camp, as Jaywing stopped for a heartbeat to see the situation. Sparrowpelt reared over a Dark Forest cat who had lunged. Another TortureClan cat slapped Skylight to the hard ground and began thrashing him with claw-spiked paws. Other Clan cats were present as well, like Lionwhisker and Sageclaw of DarkClan. A Dark Forest cat batted Lionwhisker with a vicious swipe. A tom clawed at Sageclaw's belly as another pinned Flyingtail down. The clan cats were being outnumbered!
