Chapter 56

[Jiho]

"Another girl?" Jangmi asks, making me nod. "Jeno told me that Jaemin likes somebody, and I think she's the reason why he changed, like a good change."

Jeno told me something last night that really bugged me, and again I didn't get a good night's sleep last night. My mind was occupied by Jaemin and the girl he likes, according to Jeno.

Is she pretty? Is she soft-spoken? Is she nice?

God, my mind was fucked up last night, and it was plain luck that I managed to finish my draft before midnight last night. I might even have to say sorry to Jeno for acting weird last night, he must've thought of something bad.

"But that can't be, I'm sure--I mean, what else did he say?"  Jangmi asks one more. It is currently lunch time so I had the time to go out, I called Jangmi to meet me in the chicken place near JYP, "Nothing much, just the thing that Jaemin likes somebody, and that girl brings out the est in him. Jaemin is sure lucky." My voice trailed off, my mind wandering again.

I should be grateful for her, but how I come I only feel..jealous? 

"And how do you feel?" she interrogates, and I immediately felt shy being in this situation. "You won't tease me or tell anyone about this?"

She nodded, "When did I even spill secrets about you? It's always between the both of us."

I bit my lip, a habit I would do if I'm embarrassed or nervous, "I think...I like Jaemin. I don't know, it just occurred to me last night. He was basically in my mind the whole time, and the girl he liked didn't let me sleep. My mind is filled with questions: who is she? is she pretty? is she kind? is she that nice to get Jaemin's attention? And,"

"And?" I looked down, "why did he make feel things? Or am I the only one who felt that way?"

I hid my face in my hands and sighed, "You can laugh now, Jo Jangmi."

But instead of hearing her laugh, I felt his hand removing my hands from my face, "I kind of know already, Jiho-ya. Although you're not obvious, I'm your best friend. I know everything about you."

"And about your feelings, you were both at fault. Remember the golden rule; never expect, never assume. Even if he acts sweet and caring to you, it can often mislead you Jiho. Do you get me? Even if he does like somebody, then maybe thank the girl who made him change for the better. You don't want to face the old Jaemin, right?"

I nodded, "I even acted weird in front of Jeno last night, god why is life such a mess?" I hit my head on the table and sighed, "If this is a dream, please wake me up."

I was silenced when my phone rang. I took it and it revealed Haechan's caller ID, "Hello?"

("Why are you sad?") 

"I'm not sad."

("Then why are  you hiding your face on the table?") And by that, my head jolted up and looked outside the window, it was Haechan and Jisung. "Jangmi-ya, Haechan and Jisung are outside. Wait here--" "Actually, I have to leave now. My class starts in 30 minutes, Jiho."

I nodded and gave her a light hug before sending her off and meeting the two boys outside, "What are you guys doing here?"

"We don't have a game today, so we thought we'll give you a visit." Jisung said, "And right on time, I haven't had my lunch yet," Haechan chirps before wrapping his arm around me and walked inside the chicken place. Once we got our orders, we sat near the window. "Are you busy? Jaemin that you're out with Jangmi."

I nod, "She has a class today, so she couldn't stay longer," I answer, "how are you guys? How's the game going?"

"The finals are tomorrow, so I believe that you and Jaemin will be there. We're competing against Stray Kidz and GOT7," Jisung said, clearly excited for the finals tomorrow. I smiled, "Of course, I'll be there. How about the other three?"

"They have matches today, but Jeno said that he'll come by to your house later." Haechan said, and I nod. "You guys should come, too, I'll buy pizza."

Haechan's eyes lit up, "You said it, so I'll be there before anyone else. Should I bring drinks, too?"

"I'll bring the movies."

So it's settled then, and also, this can be the way to get Jaemin off my mind, as I can't ignore him forever.
