Frustration and Fibs

Jeff stood in the kitchen, trying to make sense of the scene that took place not too long ago. He opened the pantry full of snacks but wasn't looking at them. His mind was somewhere else trying to figure out what had gone wrong.

'Maybe it's for the best,' he thought. This way he wouldn't have to worry about Toby and Jack at the same time. Ah. Jack. He remembered who he was supposed to be fully devoted to anyways, but things were weird right now. Jeff never felt the same after the 'blonde' incident. What did that even mean? Why was everything so confusing? Out of frustration, Jeff slammed the pantry shut, stomping into the living room where Ben still sat, playing video games for probably the 11th hour straight. He sighed and sat down on the floor next to him.

"Hey, what's up?" Ben greeted him as he furrowed his eyebrows in concentration on the match before him. Jeff didn't reply. He was exhausted and tired. Instead, he just watched the video game with empty eyes.

"Hello?" Ben called again. When he was once again greeted with silence, he paused the game. Criss-crossed, he turned towards Jeff. "What's been up with you lately?"

Jeff slowly moved his gaze over to Ben. "What do you mean?" he sighed.

"Look, you're Jeff The Killer. A freaky chaotic bastard who likes torturing others and picking on the weak. But lately, you've gone soft." Ben reached over to the table on his left and unwrapped a lollipop, popping it in his mouth. "Ew. Grape flavored."

Jeff lost focus, taking in his words. Had he been different lately? Had he really become a pushover? I mean, he did let a mere proxy like Masky control him so easily. Ben interrupted again,

"All I'm saying is that you're not that macho head of the house guy anymore. I mean not that I care. It's nice having a peaceful household but your gloomy mood is really killing my gaming vibe."

Jeff cleared his throat, "Ben can you keep a secret? I just really need to confide in someone. I'm so sick of keeping things to myself."

"Uhhh maybe next time. Looks like your boyfriend needs you right now."

Jeff snapped his head around to find Jack standing in the corner of the room. Jack smiled and gave Jeff a little salute. Jeff nervous, stumbled to his feet, and walked over to him.

"Uh hey. Do you need something?"

"Wow. Now I can only talk to my boyfriend when I need something from him?"

        "No wait. I didn't mean-"

"I'm kidding." Jack smiled. He let out a happy sigh and pulled Jeff into an embrace. For a moment, Jeff lost his nerves too. It felt so nice to be in Jack's arms. It was almost like nothing had changed. Except, it had.

"We need to talk," Jeff said urgently. Jack leaned against the wall slowly. He seemed unsettlingly relaxed.

"Yeah, I think we do too," Jack replied. In that instant, Jeff thought they were on the same page. He thought that maybe they had a chance to work through whatever was going on and return back to normal. "What secret did you want to tell Ben?"

Jeff froze. What was he supposed to say? 'I kissed someone else and I like them too, but don't worry I still like you?' What was he supposed to do in this situation?

"It was nothing really. It wasn't important at all."

"Oh?" Jack rose an eyebrow. "Then you wouldn't mind sharing would you? Since it's not that big of a deal."

Jeff mentally cursed at himself. He had to come up with something fast. "I had to confess to him that I broke his Xbox last week. It was a mistake but I felt too guilty about it to pretend like nothing happened."

Immediately, the tension lifted from Jeff's shoulders after he had racked at his mind for an excuse. He could tell by Jack's posture that he believed him. He stood less rigid and began to smile more realistically.

"Oh that sucks. He might kill you, you know?" Jack chuckled. Jeff laughed nervously along with his boyfriend.

"Yeah...I'll make it up to him."

Ben turned to the couple in the corner of the room. "You broke my fucking Xbox?". He looked at Jeff with disbelief. "But I just bought that!"

"I said I'll make it up to you." Jeff scratched at his neck. If this went on any longer, he couldn't keep the charade up. "I'll do your chores for a week."

        "A month." Ben huffed angrily.

"What the fuck?" Jeff blurted.  A month of double the chores sounded like hell. He looked at Jack's face as he was also processing the situation. Before he could think too far into it, Jeff agreed. "Okay, okay. Fine."

Jeff sighed defeated. Now not only did he have to figure out some kind of agreement with Masky, mend his relationship with Toby, and sort out the confusion with his boyfriend, but he also now had to add double the chores on top of all of it as punishment for something that he didn't even do.

        Fantastic. Everything is just fan-fucking-tastic.

A/N: HELLLLOOOOO! I'M ACTUALLY STILL ALIVE. I am just insanely lazy and college has been shit even though it's online now. Sorry for this little filler chapter as an update. I am so freaking bored and I have nothing to do. If anyone wants to ever play some League or Valorant then hmu. I am going to go insane indoors.
