Kai’s POV

As we were getting ready to head to our next class, I overheard soft chuckles coming from one of the unused rooms in the hallway. My curiosity piqued, I pulled Lay hyung along with me to see what was going on.

We exchanged a look before I said, "Let’s go check it out."

Walking into the room, I spotted a bunch of my classmates, all gathered around, arranging some papers and laughing like they were in on a secret. For a second, I thought I was walking into a ghostly situation but quickly dismissed the idea. Stupid, Kai.

To my surprise, it was Junmyeon hyung and Kyungsoo, the boy with heart-shaped lips. I smiled brightly and waved. "Hey, guys."

Lay hyung followed me in, his usual calm self.

When Junmyeon and Kyungsoo saw us, their eyes widened in shock. It was as if they hadn’t expected anyone to walk in.

"O-oh, hey," Kyungsoo greeted us, a shy smile tugging at his lips. He’s so cute.

I grinned, leaning casually against the doorframe. "Aren’t you supposed to be in class right now? What’s going on here?"

Junmyeon smiled awkwardly. "The principal asked us to help with some papers. He told the teachers we’d be excused for a while."

I raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk forming on my face. "Skipping class, huh? Sounds fun." Without waiting for a response, I plopped down next to Kyungsoo. "Class is boring anyway, so why not hang out with us? Right, Lay hyung?" I nudged him, but he seemed unusually quiet, distracted by something.

Lay simply nodded, almost absentmindedly. "I guess so?"

Junmyeon motioned for Lay to help him organize the papers. "Thanks for the company, but don’t expect to be excused."

I shrugged, grinning even wider. "No problem, I don’t mind."

---

We spent the next few minutes chatting and laughing, feeling like the world outside the room didn’t matter. But just as I was getting comfortable, the bell rang, signaling that it was lunchtime.

I groaned, slumping in my seat. "Already? We were just getting started." I really didn’t want to leave, especially since I was enjoying our time so much– especially with Kyungsoo.

Junmyeon chuckled at my dramatic reaction. "Don’t be sad, Kai. We can do this again sometime, right, Soo?"

Kyungsoo looked a little flustered but smiled. "Sure, I guess."

I leaned closer to Kyungsoo, giving him my best pleading look. "Really? You’ll hang out with me again?"

Kyungsoo’s cheeks flushed, and he smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Really," he said, his voice soft and warm.

I grinned, feeling triumphant. "Awesome! See you later, Suho hyung, and you too, Kyungsoo!" I quickly stood up, heading for the cafeteria, but not before glancing back at Lay hyung.

As I walked away, I felt a hand grab my arm. Turning around, I saw Lay hyung looking at me with an upset expression.

"What’s going on, hyung?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

His voice was barely above a whisper, but I could hear the frustration. "You bastard. How could you? You didn’t let me say goodbye to them, especially to Junmyeon. That was my chance to talk to him more."

A sly smile crept onto my face as I teased him. "Oh, so you’re into him, huh?"

Lay’s face turned red instantly. "What? N-No! I was just being friendly!" He stammered, then quickly walked away.

I couldn’t help but laugh to myself.

You’re so easy to read, hyung.
