As I run through the crowd, I continue instructing people to run to the Olympus, where hopefully, they can escape.

Another warrior rises from nowhere and shoots down a civilian in front of me. They make alien gurgles of pain as blue blood rushes out from the wounds.

I grimace as the skeleton turns towards me and fires. Three bullets shoot towards me, i deflect two with my sword, but the third was aimed lower than my reach.

Pain flares in my right leg as it wedges into my knee. I cast a silent prayer to the gods for making my pants so thick, any thinner and my knee would have been shattered.

I lung forward and decapitate the skeleton before falling on my good leg.

This isn't gonna be how I go out. This isn't going to be the end.

Tears spring in my eyes as a reflex from the pain. I stand up and continue my search. Forcing myself to look away from the limp body of the previously killed alien, I stagger forward.

A woman is shielding her son from one of the zombies. She desperately tries to sooth her child, but his cries drown out any words she said.

My arm hurts, my leg hurts, places that I didn't know could hurt-hurt. But despite all that, I limp over and stab the zombie terrorizing them. Rummaging in my bag, I take out gauze and medicines.

"You're back is bleeding severely. You've been shot multiple times ma'am. Pray that your spine is okay," I breathe.

This makes her son cry harder. "It's going to be okay though!" I added, "I'm here to help. There's a ship on the north docks, if you make it over, you'll be safe."

"Where's daddy?" The child sniffles.

I fall silent, working with my sword to carefully cut away the ripped shirt around the mother's wounds.

"Daddy's not with us anymore," the mother cries.

The boy looks confused. "W-what do you mean?"

His mother no longer replies. Together they start crying.

I apply disinfecting medicine around her wounds. There were three bullets embedded in her shoulder and lower back. All looked severe, and I doubted she would be able to move. I begin to bandage her back, humming a hymn to speed up her recovery. The wounds begin to glow softly, and look the slightest bit better.

"Find a place to hide. You shouldn't move around, ma'am. A couple of my friends should arrive soon, alert them, and let them take you to safety," I instruct.

Once I make sure the bandages are tight and secure, I take the mother's hand and guide them to nearby wreckage.

Suddenly, the floor shakes violently. A bomb had gone off. I hear the sound of a collapsing building, and the screams of multiple people.

I hear another scream, but this time familiar. It was Percy, shouting in anger or maybe pain. I hope it was the former.

Casting a final look back at the family, I shuffle towards the sounds. More explosions go off, and I'm nearly knocked off my feet. Just a few feet away, I see Percy. He was bruised and battered but still looked furious.

Water was swimming around him, suspended in the air, giving him an almost ethereal look. He was bleeding profusely from his right leg, and his head was also injured.

The person he was facing off against was.. Nico.

In all this chaos, I forgot Nico was the center of this commotion. I forgot that he was the one killing thousands at a time. I forgot he was the one who technically cut my arm and shot me in the knee.

The only thing I thought was, WHY?

I hobble quicker and trip, swallowing a mouthful of dust.

Nico notices and looks my way. He looks shocked for a moment, but averts his attention back to Percy when a spike of water nearly takes his head.

Percy notices my appearance a moment later, and shouts at me to run.

"I called for backup, people should arrive soon!" I shout back.

"I don't need your help! I'm ending this NOW."

Groaning with strain, I manage to get up onto my good knee. "You don't understand, let me talk to him, please."

"I'm right here you know!" Nico shouts.

Hearing his voice again stuns me. It's different from listening to him on the screen cast.

"Nico, stop this madness!" I plead.

"Don't you think I already tried talking?" Percy shouts back. His water surrounds him, and begins to heal his wounds; however, it was draining him.

"Nico, if you could see the people who are getting hurt. There was a family- a boy, younger than you, lost his father, and his mother is going to be crippled. Even now, I'm not sure if their still alive!" I shout.

"Will, you should look at yourself. Do you think I care about the people?" Nico snorts. Dark energy ripples off of him as he casts a spike of bone in my direction. Percy intercepts it with a wave of water, and it shatters on impact.

Nico snarls and snaps back towards Percy. "Why won't you just die?!"

He pulls an object from his pocket. It was only then that I realize, Nico was also injured quite a bit. He didn't have to ability to heal like Percy, so his wounds were more severe. A nasty gash across his chest tore his coat and the layers underneath.

I squint my eyes. "He has a grenade!" I shout.

Percy summons the water to shield him from the blast as Nico hurls the device. Turns out, it was not a grenade. It bounces off of Percy's shield, and once it dissipates, wires shoot out towards Percy, entangling him in a trap.

"I heard that you can summon the dead using someone else's soul.. I would like to test that theory out," Nico grins. He walks towards Percy, bending down to inspect him.

Percy's arms and legs with entrapped, but he could still defend himself with the water. "Damn you, you crazy bastard!" he curses.

Nico smiles. "Ouch, I'm hurt. But Percy.. looks like you can't keep the water here for long. I'd give you.. a couple minutes?"

"A couple of minutes is enough time for our crew to track down your sorry ass." Percy grunts.

I stare, unable to do anything. The pain in my knee is unbearable, and fatigue is catching up to me. My arm is beginning to go numb, and I wished I had bothered to heal myself up properly.

I start humming to myself, nonsensical words that made sense in my head. The pain in my arm lessens and is almost healed.

Nico stares momentarily as I stagger to my feet.

"Don't do it Nico. You can't bring back the dead."I plead.

"How should you know? Nobody's ever tried it before, but as a son of Hades, I think I have a chance," he retorts.

Percy starts looking pale, and the water around him begins to dissipate. Nico turns back to look at him. "What a shame, the great Perseus Jackson, reduced to this."

Percy responds by trashing and letting out a string of Greek curses.

"Language, there are children in the room." Nico croons.

A skeleton servant approaches and says something to Nico.

"Looks like your friends are coming close," Percy's shield drops at that moment, "Oh, and I think this is my cue." Nico says.

A Stygian iron sword materializes in his hand.

"There they are!" Annabeth's voice shouts.

Time seemed to slow down as our allies draw close, as Nico plunges the sword into Percy's gut, as I yell and lung forward, as Annabeth screams, as Percy's body vanishes into a ball of light, as the ground opens up to swallow Nico, and as Annabeth hurdles herself towards them.

There was silence as Annabeth sobs. The cackle of flames, and the sounds of destruction ring in my ears.

What the hell.
