The Following Week

Camila and Dove had gone together to meet up with Justin and Hailey for their "announcement." It was in a more intimate setting. Both of them had cameras ready to go as people were entering.

On the inside, Camila was trying not to fangirl. She felt like her reputation was on the line though. Kendall and Kylie Jenner came strutting in, Ariana Grande was here sitting next to Justin talking about her next album, and many others. How could she possibly control her heart rate while being in a room full of celebrities?

"Dove why you don't go towards that end and start and I'll take pictures on this side of the room?" Camila suggests. Dove agreed and walked over to the other end, setting up the tripod in one corner.

Just as everyone got settled in their seats, Justin stood standing with a glass of champagne in his hand. He tapped against the rim of it to gather everyone's attention. Camila gave Dove a thumbs up as she heard the camera's digital clicks across the room.

"It's uh — it's great to see all of you guys. I wanted to make this moment special for our friends before word got out but... Hailey and I... are engaged!"

Whistles and claps echoed throughout the room as all of their friends congratulated them. Camila smiled as she was trying to photograph everyone's reaction. Dove had caught some pictures of the couple hugging others as Camila went to retrieve the tripod. She wanted to get a picture with everyone gathered around Justin and Hailey.

"Don't make me ugly Cabello!" Hailey jokes with her.

"I'll try not to!" Camila plays along.

Just as she was setting up the camera in the center of the room, she felt someone tap her shoulder. She turned around to find Shawn wearing an extravagant red suit.

"Hey you!" Shawn surprises.

Camila leans in for a hug. "Hey! I thought you were going back to LA today!"

Shawn unbuttons his jacket and puts his hands in his pockets like a cool stud. Camila couldn't help but push him playfully. "I'm sorry it's like a habit of mine whenever I wear suits. But I was supposed to go back today and then Justin texted me to swing by here for the big announcement."

"Plus I knew you'd be here." Shawn added. "How have things been with Lauren?"

Camila was adjusting the height of the tripod, trying to get it perfect. "Things are great with her. I've honestly never been happier."

"That's great Mila. I really am happy for you." Shawn says. He cleared his throat and looked at his shoes. "I um... I took your advice."

"Which advice?" she asks curiously. To her, Shawn's always been the same knucklehead, so forgive her for asking.

"I started writing songs... for me." he says.

"Shawn that's great!" she enthuses. "So now you'll have to sing some of those songs at Ally and Troy's wedding."

"What? Oh no not yet. I mean I still have to go in the studio and record them. I have to find the time to do that and —" Camila could always tell when Shawn is nervous.

"You're making excuses Shawn." she tells him. "I bet you Justin would help you out with stuff like that."

"Talking about me over here now are we?" Justin surprises the both of them from behind. Shawn greeted his friend with a firm handshake and pat on the back.

"Can't wait to hit the studio with you again man." Justin says.

"Actually Justin, Shawn here was just telling me he started writing songs for himself." Camila outs him.
