Sam POV
When we entered the cafeteria, it was like there was a concert going on. Everyone was speaking so loud and we couldn't even hear each other anymore. We wandered around and couldn't find a table. Suddenly I see someone very familiar. It was Cassie, one of the sisters that I met my first day in China. I haven't seen them since! We made eye contact and she looked at me first confused then surprised and then very happy. She waved her hand and gestured to us to go to her table.
"Sam! I haven't seen you in so long!" She exclaimed while giving me a big hug. "I missed you so much."
Jackson stood there awkwardly while we exchanged hugs and saying back to each other how much we missed each other.
"Justin, this is Cassie. She was my first friend I made in China. Cassie, this is Justin. He is my friend in my class." I introduced them to each other. They both exchanged hi's and how are you's before we all sat down.
"Where's Katie?" I asked. "She's getting food with Ben. I'm saving the table while they stand in line. You guys should just eat lunch here with us, there's plenty of room." Cassie said.
As soon as she invites us to join her, I see Katie walking over with another guy who I'm assuming is Ben. He looks tall and muscular walking next to her while laughing and joking around. He has a contagious smile that makes you want to smile with him.
"Hey Sam, how are you doing!" Katie hands over her plate to Ben and runs over to give me a hug. After hugging and talking again, we finally all sit down together at the table. Jackson volunteers to get us both food so I give him a nod and my food card. He doesn't glance at me or my food card and just leaves.
"Is he mad again?" I thought
We talked for a while and I finally understood the situation. Ben, like Katie, is one year younger than me. They are in the same class and became really good friends. Since Katie and Cassie are sisters, they naturally all sit together during lunch.
Jackson comes back with both of our food and I happily munch it all down. I notice he hasn't said a word since coming back with the food and wonder if it's because he's still mad at me for the thing during class.
"Are you mad" I ask quiet enough for only the two of us to hear. "No". "You clearly are" I say back.
"Why would I be mad?" He asked me, looking a little amused. "I'm sorry ok? I'm sorry that I got mad at you during class when you were just trying to help. I was just mad at myself for not understanding and took it out on you." My voice got softer and softer as I spoke. I look up and see Jackson back to eating his food.
"Hey. Aren't you going to say something back." I say with a little punch. "Okay, okay. I forgive you. I wasn't that mad in the first place anyways. By the way, I can help you this afternoon and review what we did in class again. Just tell me the parts you don't understand and I'll explain them to you." Jackson says with a smile on face
Satisfied, I used my hand and grabbed a chicken wing from his bowl, eating it all up before he had the chance to say anything.
