The Guild of Daggers had their hands into everything Avilien. Pages upon pages of personal information could be obtained. A young kid no older than eight had reached level two, and the website Nagori navigated showed her where he lived, where he happened to be at that time, and his latest posts and views on NowTube.
"It's like a spy site. Every person in the world has Avilien," said Luke.
"Exactly," said Nagori."We wouldn't have known about this site, either, if not for Mock telling Lance about it earlier. We thought it was a little dodgy since he doesn't appear to be on here. It's a dark website that shows almost everyone in the world. If we take a look at the top hundred thousand, we will see Nate amongst them and you will see this..." Nagori found Nate and pulled up his information.
All of it remained blank, every bit of it. Even the picture of Nate appeared as a blank photo card. Nate had disabled this site from getting his details and he wasn't the only one. Anyone above the level-five threshold remained blanked out, from Brit to every member in the Guild of Daggers.
"If agents are sniffing around, I don't want them finding this place," said Lance, "Need to fix the door she broke." Lance pointed towards Brit as she now went through a stash of crisps. Like an empty void, she devoured any source of food in the basement. "Anna could you scout around for me please."
"Sure...Nagori, give me CCTV footage of the front of the shop. please," said Anna as she pulled up the hood on her blue hoody and Amilia hopped into her phone.
Nagori's fingers typed quickly and within moments, CCTV footage of the storefront came up on the monitor. There were other camera feeds dotted around—one being in the store and another at the back of the store monitoring the alleyway—but they remained blurry.
"I'll be back in bit. Shadow swap!" Anna vanished from the basement and appeared next to the orange-striped bin outside the store on the CCTV footage.
Anna gave a nod to the camera as she stood outside in the warm summer night air. Checking from left to right, she pulled her hood up further to darken her face as she then proceeded to walk down the street with her hands in her pocket. Islington had gone quiet, with not another soul walking the high street. Most of the shops had their blue metal shutters pulled down and in augmented reality, they had adverts on them and even larger adverts floating in the sky above the buildings. Some of the augments were bright and made the town look like a tropical Vegas, with all the added augmented plant life throughout the centre. Everything in augmented reality seemed better and without it, the world felt bare.
A few cars sped by on the road. Anna paid them no attention and kept her eyes peeled for anything suspicious as she scoured the main street up towards Amazing Comics. Stopping to turn down the alleyway past the store, she froze. Two men dressed in suits with their GTs producing light scanned the concrete maze and illuminated piles of rubbish and scavenging rodents. Both had their backs to her and were talking into tiny black earpieces.
"There is no sign of them in this area, sir. They cannot have escaped Islington without our knowing, as the roads outbound are being monitored, so someone must be harbouring them. We did a check and search of Golden Tower Hotel and found no signs that they returned there, but found endless amounts of food wrappers over a day old," said one of the agents as he kicked a metal bin over.
A crackle came through the earpiece as rubbish poured out of the fallen bin and scared a few rats.
"Neither of them have friends, so find them!" roared a voice into both agent's ears causing them to shudder. The shout reminded Anna of her father, and she gripped the inside of her jacket.
