Squeeks yelped in horror and grew to the size of the cupboard he once hid inside. Alone, without Brit, and facing off against a level-seventeen Somok and a level-ten Necromancer, wreaked havoc with his once-calm demeanour. Rubbing his paws together in a circular motion as a sign of stress and fear, he squeaked in a panic as Zeult jolted awake and all three of the snake's heads started to turn around looking for the blue mouse.

Anger seeped from every scale on Zeult's body. He could smell and sense Squeeks nearby and the thought of eating him overcame the orders to follow and eliminate Brit and Luke.

"Keep it immobilised, for crying out loud! This isn't how I wanted this encounter to go down," said Nate as he looked towards Squeeks."Good call by the way, Bones; you were right on the money." Nate swung his weapon at Zeult and made the snake coil away from Squeeks as his weapon cut deep into the scales and sent green numbers flying.

Zeult tried to devour Squeeks, but the arrival of Nate and his weapon caused it to shriek in pain and coil around itself in a protective manner. Over and over, Nate struck the snake causing damage and reducing Zeult's health bar. Squeeks saw no alternative other than to help Nate. He had no time to ponder the consequences of his actions, or what might happen afterwards. He had made a promise to his master to stall the snake for as long as he could, and now used his simple trait to help the very enemy they wanted to defeat.

Mad dashing through walls led Brit, Luke, and Nebs to the deserted lobby area of the school. Ms. Lait—along with any other signs of life—had gone and by now, the doors would have been locked...not that doors and walls were an issue. Brit panted and clutched her chest as she stumbled towards the reception desk. Before she could make it, she fell to her knees. Gasping for air, Luke grabbed a hold of her and kept her steady.

"My rage bar has gone a little into the minus. We need to escape the school as quickly as we can. Squeeks will find us no matter what. He can find me anywhere," said Brit as she huffed and grabbed for the reception desk while clutching her black school jumper tightly.

Body heating up like a furnace, Luke struggled to hold onto his friend. He felt as if he were hugging a boiling kettle.

"Well, the doors are going to be locked, Brit, and you need time to recover," said Luke.

"Then smash them...idiot master," said Nebs as he slapped Luke around the back of the head with a paw full of claws.

Luke summoned his Crackling Thunder and—keeping Brit held up—he walked towards the doors. Heavier than she looked, he hoped a single swing would do the job and cut clean through the thick glass.

"So, Zeult's senses were right when I cornered you the other day in the corridor, Wakefield. You are a level-zero knight. Able to now produce an Avilien weapon and have a Grenchitty game guide," said Semor Mock as he entered the lobby through a set of double doors leading to the hall. "I'd like the pair of you to stop where you are right now. I don't like witnessing or doing these kind of things, but I must confirm the deletion of you two." Mr. Mock's voice penetrated Luke's ears and made him gulp.

Turning to face his headmaster, Luke watched a smaller version of the huge snake that attacked them crawl up and coil around Mr. Mock's left arm and neck. Without the shadow of a doubt, Mock had revealed himself to be the level-seventeen dark mage.

"Mighty impressive that you escaped the clone, but you cannot escape this school, either of you. I have a dark barrier placed around the building that shall last a few more minutes. Enough time to rid myself of the two of you. Orders came through yesterday giving me permission to put an end to you, Wakefield. It would appear your father has abandoned you and doesn't intend to get in contact with you after all, which means you're useless to us now." Mock tapped his phone screen, and out of it—and into his hand—a light golden scroll appeared with a blue band wrapped around it.
