That night, Gabriel stood at the steps of Rowena's mansion, waiting for you to show up. He fiddled nervously with his tie as he did so, pacing and wondering where you were.
Your brothers had already gone inside the building, dressed in their FBI suits. Gabriel himself wore a simple black tuxedo with a midnight blue tie, a beautiful red rose in his hand as he waited nervously.
Just as he was starting to wonder where you were, you appeared behind him, escorted by Castiel.
Castiel wore a silver suit with a tie to match his blue eyes.
But Gabriel's golden eyes were focused entirely on you. You wore a gorgeous, sparkly (f/c) gown that hit the floor and dragged partially behind you. Your hair was curled and pulled into a fancy updo and you wore a pair of dangly (favorite jewel) earrings and the necklace you never seemed to part from.
His eyes were glued to you and his mouth had fallen open a bit. You giggled and shut his mouth. "Heyyy, Gabe~"
"Um...(n/n)! I'd like to...I mean can I...may I escort you?"
"Of course." You said with a smile.
He offered you his arm and you took it as he led you inside, Cas following behind you.
The party was already underway and Gabriel grabbed your hand as he led you out on the dance floor for a dance. You were happy as he spun you around like he'd done on the ship and you rested your head on his shoulder, content. That's when a woman walked onto the stage and introduced herself as Rowena.
Rowena was a beautiful woman with long red hair, green eyes, and a Scottish accent. She wore a forest green dress that flowed down to the floor and a pair of emerald earrings.
"Hello, dears. Thank you all for coming out." She said in a small voice. "I appreciate all the support and well wishes. I can only hope that my darling granddaughter, (y/n), will find her way back to me. Now enjoy the food and festivities."
With that, she ran off the stage and disappeared down a corridor.
"Guess it's time." Gabriel said.
He took your hand as the two of you made your way down the hall. Rowena snuck into a room, you not far behind.
You paused, suddenly unsure if you were ready. For 10 long years, you had wondered about your family and why they didn't come looking for you. Now, here you were, mere inches from the family you never had and...it frightened you.
Gabriel stopped when you did and looked at you. "What's wrong, sugar?"
You took a deep breath. "Gabe, I'm nervous."
"It's ok to be nervous. This is a big deal. But, listen to me, sweetheart. You've wanted this your whole life. Rowena's just on the other side of that door, waiting for you. She wants you just as much as you want her." You nodded. "Ok. Now I'm just gonna go in and announce you properly then I'll bring you in for the big reunion."
He started to leave when you grabbed his hand. "Gabriel...I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me."
Gabriel wanted to break down then and there and tell you the truth. That he had lied. That he had used you, both for the reward and because you reminded him of the princess. That you really were the princess. That he knew because he always got those feelings when you were around. Feelings of love. Of feeling protective of you. Of wanting you more than he'd ever wanted anything in his life.
But then he looked at your face. You looked so genuinely happy. He knew he could never tell you the truth. Besides, it didn't matter anyway. Once you got reunited with Rowena, you would move in with her and he'd never see you again. At least this way, your happy face would be the last thing he'd see before he left.
"No problem, love. You know I'd do anything for you."
"And, Gabe...you know that--?"
"I know. I love you too. I always will."
With that, he turned away and entered the room, shutting the door behind him. However, unbeknownst to him, the door didn't close all the way and you could hear the conversation from the hallway.
"Milady," Gabriel said as he entered the room to find Rowena waiting for him, "I am pleased to inform you that I have found your granddaughter, the Princess (Y/n). She's waiting to see you just outside the door."
Rowena frowned. "I do not wish to see anymore potential princesses in my life. I have seen quite enough."
"But, your majesty--"
"I don't care for your excuses!" Rowena shouted. "I don't care how much you fashioned this girl to look like her or sound or act like her! It's never her!"
"This time it is her!"
"I trusted you once, Gabriel. And I thank you for what you did back then but I don't trust you now. You are an archangel obsessed with getting back your grace. I will not see this woman."
"It's not what you think!"
Rowena stood in front of Gabriel, tears pricking her eyes. "Get out of my sight!"
That's when a pair of guards came and dragged him out. He landed right at your feet and, as he looked up into your eyes, which were filled with angry tears, he knew you'd heard everything.
"You lied to me?" You asked, choking back the tears. "You used me as part of a con? And all this for what? So you can have your power back?"
"(N/n), you don't understand. It may've started out that way but everything's different now. Because you really are the princess!"
You pushed him away as he tried to move closer to you. "From the beginning, you lied to me! You used me and took advantage of me! Not only did I believe you, I--"
Against your wishes, the tears started to pour down your face. Gabriel touched your face, wiping away the tears.
"Sugar, I promise that whatever happened...I tried so many times to tell you the truth. But you need to know something. That story you told Chuck--" He sighed. "My father, it was true. That angel you saw--"
"Wait a minute!" You shouted, pushing him away again. "Are you telling me that was another lie? Chuck is your father? I was lying to God??"
"Technically, yes. But I didn't lie to you about him. I just...didn't want you to know how bad of a father I had."
"I can't believe this!" You shouted again, rubbing your hands down your face. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised though." You gave him the most hateful glare you could muster. "Once a trickster, always a trickster."
With that, you rushed off, not leaving Gabriel any time to explain.
