Stef's POV
"It got extended again! This is like the eleventh time it's gotten extended." I heard Jesus whine.

"This is only the fourth time, not the eleventh" I heard Brandon argue back.

I took a deep breath as I took off my glasses and put my head in my hands. This whole Covid thing had changed a lot. Not just for me and my family, but for everyone. Lena was upstairs as she now worked from home. I still had to go out on the streets which was somewhat scary. But today I got to work from home which was a nice little break. And we both still had our jobs and the house and a steady income. Yes, we were making less which was harder with five kids but I was thankful to have what we did.

The kids were doing online schooling which sounded like pure hell when they explained it to me. Out of everyone, Callie was struggling the most with online classes. She had a hard time learning in school by itself and now this on top of it was not much of a help. I along with Lena made sure to put aside extra time to help her. And it was nice having Lena be the principle of the school as she knew the general course the classes were about and was more of a help than me.

Jude not being even halfway into kindergarten and suddenly having to figure out everything online was also another hurdle. Lena and I often worried about our parents even though my mom Sharon repeatedly told me she was fine and there was nothing to worry about and that Frank stayed home all the time even before Covid.

"Moooommmm. I need help." I heard Callie yell.

"Bring your homework over to me and then I will help you!" I yelled back.

"Mariana won't stop following me. It's annoying!" I heard Callie yell again.

I rubbed my temples as I took a deep breath in. I then saw Callie appear around the corner carrying her iPad and sure enough, Mariana was right on her heels.

They made their way over to the side table between the kitchen and the den where I working on paperwork.

"I can't figure this assignment out." Callie said as she put her iPad next to my computer and hopped up onto the stool next to me.

Mariana then squeezed her way between Callie and me and stood in front of the stool between my legs and just looked up at me with those big brown eyes.

"Go bug your brothers." I said to Mariana as I picked Callie's iPad up.

"But they are busy and don't have time to play with me." Mariana whined.

"Yeh, just like we don't have time for you." Callie said smartly.

"Hey, you watch yourself." I said sternly as I eyed her.

"Sorry." She said as she sulked back down.

"Jesus is playing Lego's with Brandon and they just threw the plastic bricks at me when I tried to play with them. Jude is sleeping next to mama while she is doing her work. That's all Jude does is sleeps, he is boring. I tried being with them but I had to be quiet because Jude was sleeping. I couldn't fall asleep, and mama needed to focus on her work, and Callie doesn't wanna play because she has homework. And I have absolutely no friends I can hang out with because I'm stuck in this stupid house." Mariana rambled off.
